New Script – Word Frame 2 Round

cass-WordFrame2Round

Last week, I brought you a script to create a square or rectangular frame around a photo, an element, or on its own. However, i thought it would be great to have some round (or oval) ones, so you could simulate postmarks but create your own. Of course, this required some shaping of the text in the area since it was no longer a simple rectangular area. This is done with the Warp Mesh.

Although this script will work with a photo, I find that you might be loosing a bit more of the photo with a round frame, so if you use that option, just be careful what photo you are using.

Unlike the previous script, this time, you are able to choose whether you want to have 25%, 40% or 50% of the space filled with the material you choose. This allows you even more flexibility and creativity.

Use this script on any size image so you can create a journaling area, or make it small to create a date stamp. Add your own word, date, name, to the frame to make something truly unique.

And as a bonus, you can still use the Warp Mesh on your own, maybe to add another shaped word on the “open” side? Why not. The Warp Mesh is included in the zip file and you can surely reuse it.

You can grab this script in my store: Creation Cassel.

cass-WordFrame2Round-samplersAnd as usual, i have a giveaway for you. Just go add your name to this thread in the forum, and i will pick a winner on Monday night. It is that easy.

If you want to have a closer look at these frames, i created a set of round ones with the days of the week. They are 800x800 pixels in greyscale png format. This allows you to resize them if you want, and colorize them to match whatever project you are making.

New script – Word Frame 2

cass-WordFrame2

A while ago, i released a script that made an inside frame, with text. It was a delicate result, using the Word Frame script. However, at times, one might want something a bit more obvious or something that can be turned into a wordart. This script will do just that.

You can start with a photo from your P365 stash, and add a border OUTSIDE the photo. You can add the word WEEK in plain view and add the number in a contrasting color and font. Depending on whether your photo format is portrait or landscape, you can choose to have the word on top or on the bottom, or on one side.

You can choose any word you want. However, be careful as longer words will be made to fit in the space so if you are trying to write BEAUTIFULLY in a small space, the text will be kind of squished!

The font will be whatever you choose and unlike many other scripts, you will NOT have to type the name and risk a typo; the script will stop and let you choose the font from the text tool toolbar so you will have no problem with typing.

Once the word and the font are chosen, you will get four options to display that word: colored, outlined, cutout, or translucent. Except for the cutout (obviously), the word is on a separate layer so you can still apply your own personal touch.

What can you do with this script? Whatever you want. With all the options available, you are sure to get a frame that will be perfectly matching your layout or your kit.

You can find this script in my store: Creation Cassel.

cass-WordFrame2-samplers And as usual, i am giving you the chance to win this script by posting in this thread. And as usual, if you choose to purchase the script this weekend to take advantage of the new release price, you can still participate: if you win, you will get a coupon for a future new release of your choice! So go for it. What do you have to loose?

This week, i created four frames for you. Two in French and two in English. They would be perfect for a P365, or any “ordinary” photo (is any photo really ordinary?). You can add a date or a number in another font. Each frame is in greyscale so you can colorize them to match your project. Two frames are in PNG format, as they have only one layer, but two are in PSD format so you can actually move the words if you want, add a shadow, some brushwork, and also colorize them too.

New script – Photo Blocks

cass-PhotoBlocks

Last week, someone told me she wanted to find scripts to add some photo effects. She had seen all those fancy actions for Photoshop, but she was using Paintshop Pro. She asked me if i could do some. Without a specific effect in mind, i just browsed the net for interesting photo effects, photo frames, and such. I ended up on a collage effect, and sure enough, there was a tutorial for achieving it in Photoshop. I started reading the instructions, trying to see if it could be done in Paintshop Pro too, but i got discouraged with the amount of work it involved. I had no intention of working on 60 individual layers, even in PSP, so i thought of a different way to achieve it and it was also easy to turn into a script. Although doing it manually is not hard, it still takes time, so the script will allow you to  get a great result in no time.

The script will generate small, medium or large squares, depending on what you choose. It will generate many blocks. Maybe you will find that some spots are not covered, or maybe you won’t like the arrangement. No problem. Ask the script to add more blocks. In fact, they are “full” blocks with an outline, so even if you were to add 200 blocks, you will not see a ton of outlines.

If you end up with something that is almost perfect, but you still want to tweak it, no problem: you can add more blocks with the tool that will be already set for you. And you can also add a rectangular block for a real focus on a part of the photo.

This script is available in the store: Creation Cassel

cass-PhotoBlocks-samplesAs usual, you can add your name to the RAK thread in the DST forum for a chance to win this script. Just tell me how you would do this manually. I will be back on Monday night to draw for a winner.

As a freebie, this week, i created a mask and a matching png template. You can use either one, depending on your program or the technique you want to use. It is suitable for a 6x4 photo, but as a mask, you can use it with a larger image. Not only you can use it on a photo, but maybe you can also use it with a paper. That would make a fun background, don’t you think? And it will be great to use with the upcoming workshop on Masks!

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

Sarah had fun with the License Plate script last week. She posted her dream plate. Isn’t that gorgeous?

New from the Campus

T-Teejay Last week, we held two totally new activities. They were both called Video Speed Scrap, but really, they should be renamed. One was on templates and one was on monograms. It was really fun to all work on our own project yet be able to see what others were doing. That is the beauty of the set up we had. The participants all created templates and monograms. You can see one monogram that Teejay did. They will be distributed to all the Campus members as soon as i get all the pieces together. Here are some comments sent by the participants:

“Amazing” – Rachel

“I really liked being able to see your screen” – Susie

“It was fun. Lets do it again.” – Elaine

“i thought it was fantastic... what a great way this would be ..to learn of each other..this was what the net is meant for” – Teejay

Are we going to have another one of those? Probably. When? That, i don’t know. I am thinking of repeating the event with similar themes but i also have other ones in mind. When that will be scheduled, i will post it for you.

Finally, both the Basic Scrap course and the Element Creation tutorials course are still on sale. This will only be available for a few more days as it will end at midnight on July 31st. Check them out.

On August 5th, we will have our next live workshop. The theme will be Masking in PSP. We often see masks as individual products in stores, but how do you use them? Can they have other purpose than just making a nice shape around a photo?

We’ll be looking into that. Of course, if you have any particular question you would like us to address during the workshop, just drop us an email, or include the question in your registration form.

New script – Bead curtain

cass-BeadCurtain

A while ago, i saw some of those old fashioned curtains made of glass beads. I thought i could make a script to create those but i ran into various problems with it and decided to put it on the back burner for a while. Last week, Connie posted on our Facebook page the suggestion to create this exact same element, so i brought it back to the front burner and kept working at it. It must have worked because i figured out how to get all i wanted into it.

This is how this Bead curtain script for Paintshop Pro was born. This script will allow you to use ANY picture tube and make vertical lines of it. Obviously, the most comment tubes you will be using are going to be beads, right? Well, probably, but you can also use chains, drops, flowers, gems, and more. For a fun Halloween curtain, you can even use strings of bugs! I am sure it would make a fantastic background for some Halloween theme layouts!

The script offers many options. The length of the strings and the width of the “curtain” will be determined by the size of your image, so you can work directly onto your current project, or make a smaller one on the side. You can have all the strings of the same length, or in random length, or even in a triangular pattern (check the sampler, below). You determine how many strings you want, how spaced the elements will be, and you can also have individual elements all of the same size or randomly sized. You can use directional tubes (like chains and ropes), but also tubes that need to be used in sequence (like always 5 small ones and 1 big one), or totally randomly.

You can grab this script in my store at Creation Cassel.

You can also add your name to this thread for a chance to win it, as usual. So what are you waiting for?

cass-BeadCurtain-sample I am sure you will LOVE this free sample i made for you. I used one of my bead tubes and ran it on a 600x2000 pixels image asking for a triangular shape bottom. Then, i used that tile to flood fill a 3600x2000 image to get that chevron effect at the bottom. Isn’t that lovely? You can use it as a background for something fancy, or formal, or maybe a wedding page, or Christmas layout. What will you use it for? This is a png format, so anyone can use it.

The beads are slightly uneven to give it more depth and life.

>>>  New in the store

As you know, i specialize in Paintshop Pro scripts. However, i regularly get requests from Adobe users asking if i could convert my scripts so they could use them in Photoshop or Photoshop Element. Well, i decided to take the plunge and get a few chosen scripts to be made into actions (or scripts) so that more people could enjoy creating custom elements for their kits, layouts or other projects.

Cassel-LicensePlate-action

Today, i am making this action available to you. It is a first. I do not have a set schedule of how often Adobe-compatible products will be released in the store. When it happens, i will tell you in here, and in my newsletter.

This action will let you create a custom license plate that you can match to any kit, layout, theme that you want. Aren’t the samples in the preview lovely? Thanks to Michelle and Jenn for those! If you want to get this action, simply head over to my store HERE to buy it. Just like my regular PSP products, it is on sale for 25% off over the weekend, so hurry!

This weekend, we will also have a fun brand new activity. I am all excited about it and the more people join, the more fun it will be, and the more everyone will bring home afterward.

Because of the annoying “time zones issues”, there are 2 meetings planned, so it is more than likely that one of them will be accessible for you, in YOUR time zone.

Those meetings are called VIDEO SPEED SCRAP. It is probably not the best name for it, and it is surely going to change, but i didn’t find anything better for now. It will be a VIDEO meeting. Nothing to do with a webcam, so don’t worry about your hairdo or makeup. You can come in your pyjama if you want, nobody will see. The VIDEO part is about sharing your screen. As we meet and work (yes, YOU will work too), we will share screen of what everyone is doing. Sharing screen is NOT mandatory, if you prefer not to, but it will be available to all.

The VIDEO SPEED SCRAPS will take place on Sunday, July 22nd. (and they are NOT software specific so everyone can join in)

  • The first one is on ALPHA. We will be making MONOGRAMS based on one single kit that you will get to download just before the meeting. Everyone will work on different monograms, but using the same palette, the same theme and maybe the same base material, but i can promise you that everyone will be doing something VERY different! The meeting for the ALPHA will be at 10 am Eastern time zone. Register here.

  • The second one will be on TEMPLATES. We will all create a different template based on some identical elements, and some specific instructions. At the end, everyone will be able to get a set of templates from what each participant created. As you see, the more people who join, the more templates we’ll get. It is a bit like a template exchange, but with a twist. And again, we will allow everyone to share their screen during the meeting. This meeting will be held at 9 pm Eastern time zone. Register here.

Finally, as the month of July nears the end, our Anniversary celebration also will be closing soon. As a last offer to you, both the Basic Scrap course and the Element Creation tutorials course are currently on sale. This is a great offer, and it will last until July 31st. Check them out.

New script – Leather Tag

cass-LeatherTag

There is always a way to use a leather tag, whether it is attached to a key chain, as a label on a jeans pocket or a travel tag on a luggage. This script will let you create your own custom tags, of any shape, with any kind of imprint on it.

Write a name, a date, a place, an event. Make it into a frame. Attach it to a chain, a string or a ribbon. Make an alpha if you want.

The leather texture is not the same for every run of the script since there is a little random feature included in the code so even if you run the script twice on the same shape, using the same colors, you will not get exactly identical tags.

The possibilities are endless.

You can grab this script in my store at Creation Cassel.

As usual, there is a thread in the DST forum where you can add your name and be entered into a draw to win this script. Go check it out HERE and remember that if you want to take advantage of the weekend sale price ($4.50 until Sunday night), and you win the draw, then, you can win a coupon for a future release. So don’t delay.

cass-LeatherTag-samples I am sure you want to have a look at these tags, before purchasing them, right? Of course. So i created a few free samples for you. You get 3 instead of 2 because i know that our UK friends are using a different spelling than the commonly seen “Mom”, so to give them an opportunity to use this freebie, i made one with “Mum” too.

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

If you use this freebie in a layout, i would LOVE to see it, so don’t be shy. Show off your masterpiece!

New Script Seamless Tiling

cass-SeamlessTiling

Do you sometimes want to create a seamless background out of a smaller element? Do you find yourself unhappy with the Seamless Tiling available in your program? That command creates a seamless effect by fading in the designs, on the edges or the corners. Yes, it is seamless, but it does not look realistic at all. This script creates a seamless tiling the same way you would do if you did it manually: by overlapping the design, instead of fading it in.

You possibly found out about this technique if you watched or attended the workshop on Seamless Designs, but although you knew how to do it, you still found it was tedious, and required precise calculations to make the end result REALLY seamless. That is why Suzy asked me to convert that technique into a script that would do the exact same steps, faster and more precisely.

Do you want to see a close comparison between the seamless effect and the script? Check this out:

WithPSPSeamless   WithScript

Seamless pattern made with the PSP effect             Seamless pattern made with the script

Do you see those fading leaves on the left example? That is the way PSP creates the seamlessness while on the right example (done with the script), you really cannot see where the design starts or ends. Which one do you think would look better to create a background?

You can get this script in my store: Creation Cassel

You can also enter your name in the thread HERE for a chance to win this script. Don’t worry. If you bought the script to take advantage of the special weekend price, and you win the draw, you get a coupon for a future release. It has happened, and it gave a chance to someone to actually pick which new product they wanted! So hurry and post in this thread. I will be back on Monday with the name of a winner.

cass-SeamlessTiling-samples As a free sample, i chose to create three seamless tiles for you with the script. First, i used the Grass blades tube from PSP, and created a horizontal seamless tile. This would be great to add to any project with a nature or vacation theme. Second, i use a combination of spruce branches, bows and bells to make a vertical tile. You can use this tile to embellish some stationary or cards with a holiday theme (i know, it might be ahead of time, but you can start early). Then, i made a diagonally seamless tile with the fall leaves tubes from PSP too.

How will you use these samples? Show me!

New Script – Colored Pebbles

cass-ColoredPebbles

A couple of weeks ago, i released a script to create rock pebbles. During a recent shopping trip, i had noticed some colored glass pebbles and thought it would be great to simulate them digitally. And there it is.

This script will allow you to choose any base colors (from 1 to 6 colors), so you can have perfectly matching pebbles to use in a kit, on a layout or to around a particular photo. Choose a white or black background, or any other color. Even better, you can have translucent glass pebbles. How fun is that?

Each run of the script can generate up to 20 pebbles that will always be different since there is a random feature coded in several places in the script: so you get random shape, random color choice, random texture, even random brightness as the colors will be slightly modified, just to make everything perfectly… different!

What would you use these for? Just think of what you would use colored pebbles in real life. You can make a mosaic from them, you can scatter them around or make a border out of them, you can fill a glass jar, and more. If you are a PSP user, you can also combine them into a tube and “paint” with them.

This script is available in my store: Creation Cassel

And this week, although i have a regular RAK thread at DST, everyone will be a winner. Yes, you read correctly. EVERYONE who will post 2 colors they would like to see combined in glass pebbles, will get a set, even if they are not a PSP user (since they will be in PNG format). And of course, one winner will be drawn on Monday to win the script itself (among PSP users, or anyone willing to buy PSP). So check out the thread here, and add your color choices. Tell your friends about that draw since they will get something out of it anyways!!

cass-ColoredPebbles-sample This week, i created a set of glass pebbles for you based on red, white and blue colors. I know the 4th of July is coming soon, and we also have our French scrapper friends celebrating their national day on July 14th using the same colors. Canada Day is on July 1st, and it uses red and white (you can drop the blue ones). Of course, you dont have to use those colors only for national holidays: many other themes or events can use those pebbles for embellishments, even if it is only for a basic kids layout!

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

Although it is NOT a requirement, how about you tweet about it or post on your Facebook wall? Maybe some of your distant digiscrapper friends would like to see those?

If you tweet about it, add the @creationcassel tag to it, and if you post on Facebook, remember to tag me too. I am curious to know how many of you will do it! Com’on, just do it!

It is coming! SOOOOOOOOOOON

New script – Layered Text

cass-LayeredText

Some Paintshop Pro users like to make signatures tags, cards in addition to digital scrapbooking. This script was requested by Sarah who wanted to make those signature tags with two layers of letters, but found it was quite a task to do manually. So this is how this script came to be.

With this script, the most complicated task you will have to complete, is choosing the options! You can start with any text, but you have to choose the font, the size, the color, for both layers, then, you add an outline (you choose the size and the color) then, you can add shadows to YOUR liking. What is so tedious about this kind of text? Each letter has to be on a separate layer so you will end up with a ton of layers. What does the script do for you? It renames all the layers so you can easily find which layer you might want to edit, change, or move once you want to personalize it even more.

You can do a lot of creative work with this script: create a date, a title, add a name or a wish to a card, make a door sign, place cards, and much more!

You can get this script in my store on special this weekend: Creation Cassel.

cass-LayeredText-SampleAs for every new release, i have a give away  in the DST Happy Place section. Check this thread, and add your name to it. I will be back on Monday night with the name of a winner. It might just be you!

Did you want to use one of those layered words? Here is a free sample. Whether you have summer or winter photos, you probably have either a vacation photo or a school photo. Choose which one you want to use. These samplers are in png format (not layered) and the shadows are not included so you can add your own to match your project. Will you show me what you do with it?

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

cass-Stamp1 And by the way, did you notice the other 'new’ script? In fact, it is a pretty old script, to create a postage stamp. It was among the first scripts i coded, and it was a challenging one. For some unknown reasons, i had it in my older stores but never had it in my personal store. Either that, or it vanished at one point or another. In any case, i decided to find the old copy, dust it and update it to the newer PSP versions. And it is now available in the store. Check it for yourself.

New script – Rocks and Pebbles

cass-RocksPebbles

Sheila showed me a picture of pebbles and wanted to know if it was possible to create a script to make similar elements. This immediately challenged me into finding a way to recreate the random shapes for pebbles, since we all know that no two rocks are exactly the same. I didn’t want to use preset shapes, because i felt it would still be limiting, so i coded the script to create a random shape, by itself (you can see it run, right in front of your eyes!).

Although the zip file includes 15 rock textures that are used randomly, you also have the option to add your own patterns, and as many as you want too. Take photos of rocks in your own backyard and use them instead of the textures already listed in the script and you have the most custom rocks for your projects.

This script is among the easiest ones to run as you don’t have anything to do, other than tell it how many pebbles you want. The rest is absolutely automated from start to finish!

You can get this script in my store, Creation Cassel

And if you want to have a chance to win this script, head over to the Happy Place section of the DST forum and add your name to the thread here. I will be back on Monday with the name of a winner.

cass-RocksPebbles-samples

Do you want to play with these rocks? I have a set of 10 for you. They are obviously in png format, and about 400 pixels wide. They are small, but hey, they are pebbles after all! If you REALLY need larger ones, just let me know and i can see about editing the code of the script. In the mean time, have fun with these.

New font – Hinges for all

cass-Hinges1b

Who is the handiest person in the family? Do you have carpentry projects you want to create layouts about? Or maybe you want to attach two frames together? Now you can do just that with this FONT. Yes, it is a font and not just vector shapes. Why? Because fonts are not program specific so any program able to handle outside fonts can use these. Also, if you use the same font size, you can combine them to create asymmetrical hinges, and they will match perfectly. Another BIG advantage of fonts is that you can use them as large as your program can handle without any loss of quality. Add the color, texture, finish of your choice to match your kit, photo or layout.

With a little tweaking, you can also add that 3D effect that is typical of the central part of the hinge, where you add a “pin” to attach both sides.

cass-Hinges1 Since you have 20 different designs, and you can mix and match them, it means you have up to 400 possible combinations. Look at these examples.

You can grab this FONT in my store: Creation Cassel.

cass-Hinge1-sample

I am sure you would want to check it and play with one of those hinges so i made one just for you. It is a PNG format so you can use it in any program and it is pretty large. This should allow you to size it down to what you need. What will you do with it? Show us!
