New script – Offset Cutout

Offset Cutout Script for PaintShop ProIn order to create a depth effect, you can use several cutouts in decreasing sizes along with large shadows. But doing it by hand can be tedious, which is why I created this script.

Starting with any vector shape, it will create all those layers for you. You can have them all centered but if you want a different effect, tell the script where you want the offsets to go and everything will be done for you.

In the end, you will have a layered template that you can customize with colors, patterns, or papers of your choice.

Layered Cutout card template for PaintShop ProFor a sampler, I created a template for a folded card, 2100x3000 pixels with a round cutout. You can use it as a folded card by keeping it in full size of you can just use the bottom part to make it into a postcard, or a framed image.

New script – Quick Guides

Quick guides for PaintShop ProWhen working with PaintShop Pro to create frames or other effects, it is convenient to use guides so we can snap to them and keep our elements, our lines, or brush strokes aligned. Although adding guides along the edges of any image is not really difficult, it is a little tedious to place them exactly on the edges, especially for all four sides. Furthermore, if you want to place guides in the very center, you have to do some calculations too.

This is what this script will do for you, and in a single click too!

You can now get this script for FREE in the store (you still have to go through the checkout though). Quick Guides

Since this script is free, there is no random draw to win it, but if you want to add a comment on Facebook, you can do so on this post.

As a utility script, I can hardly create a sample from using it, right? So, as a freebie, I decided to create a mask template for you using the Fireworks picture tubes available in the Campus for the January theme blog post (you can get those tubes HERE).

New Script – Paper Strips

Paper Strips script for PaintShop ProSometimes, it can look interesting to have a series of paper strips of different colors or patterns to serve as a background for a project. However, that can be tedious and time-consuming.

This script will just do that for you in a very short time, using your papers, and your options, sprinkled with some randomness too. Every run of the script will yield a different result, even if you were to use the same papers and the same options.

Paper Strips template for PaintShop ProAs a sample, I chose to create a series of strips, aligned to the bottom, and turned them into a template so you can use it with your favorite papers. These strips are grouped so you can copy and paste them onto your project in one step (instead of copying them one by one!).

New script – Photo Circle

Photos in a circle script for PaintShop ProPlacing photos in a perfect circle is an interesting way to display them, but it can be very tedious to take care of resizing each photo to the correct dimension for their number, then spacing them, aligning them and rotating them perfectly to form that circle.

This is what this script will do for you, with very little effort on your part. You can display as many photos as you want, and the script will take care of all the calculations for you.

photos in a circle templateAs a sample, I ran the script with 8 photos and simply replaced the photos with grey squares (you don`t need to have my photos, do you?). You can add various papers or elements to decorate the page.

New script – Circular Slats

Circular slat script for PaintShop ProIn order to showcase your photos, there are many different ways. You can use slats in different shapes but in order to create those slats evenly, it is a tedious process.

This script will let you select the subject you want to showcase, and then you will pick various options for the slats, whether you want them on one side or both sides, evenly or decreasing, upward, downward or centered. You get to choose the color of the outline.

The end result will be on separate layers allowing you even more customization.

Artsy Frame for PaintShop ProFor a sample, since this script should be applied to a specific photo, I used the same brush that is included in the zip file to create an artsy mask. The whole page is full-size, and includes a mask and a frame that you can tweak, recolor, move, etc. Use it to showcase your favorite photo.

New script – Starburst Template Maker

Starburst Template Maker script for PaintShop ProYou can display your photos in regular square or rectangular shapes, but you can also use a starburst shape to make it a little different.

Creating your own template is always a bit time-consuming so this script will help you work faster. You choose how many photo spots you want to have, and the script will create a template exactly for that number. And furthermore, each photo spot will be turned into a mask group so you simply have to drop your photo on the correct layer and adjust the placement of the photo. No cutting involved.

New script – Slats

Slats script for PaintShop ProUsing slats on a photo is a unique way to showcase it, but it can be tedious to create manually. Furthermore, if you want to showcase a particular area of the photo without cutting it off, you can no longer use a ready-made template as it might not suit your specific image or size or preference.

This script will create slats but you will start by setting the "untouched" area and the slats will be added left/right or up/down that main selection. And you get more options for the creation of those slats. Finally, the script will also add a set of frames that you can keep or not, or customize with a different color, with additional effects, etc.

Get this in the store: Slats.

In order to win this script, add a comment on this Facebook post telling us whether you have ever used slats before (remember, add a comment, not just a Like!) The winner will be announced in the newsletter, next week. Not a subscriber yet? Not a problem. You can register here and it is free (and you only get one email per week).

Slat template for PaintShop ProFor a sampler, I created this template for you. It will help you showcase an element that would be off center. You can mirror it too, if your element is on the right.

You can change the color of the frame, add a bevel or other textures. You can add shadowing if needed.

For the background, you can simply use a solid color from your image or a pattern that matches. Or you can duplicate your photo and move that duplicate to the "background" layer and play with the opacity, the color, etc. for another unique display.

New script – Framed Mask

PaintShop Pro script to create layered framed maskI have seen various masks made from apparent chaos of random frames while allowing the display of a single photo through all those frames. I knew how to create those manually, but figured it would be simpler for PSP users to have a tool to do all the work for them.

This script will allow you to either start with a "blank" project where all the frames will cover the center area of a full-size 3600x3600 image or use an existing photo, sized and placed in a specific location of the project and have the script create the frames over that photo. The options are numerous as you can create between 1 and 36 frames to cover that area. In the end, you get a layered template with a Mask group where you can just put your photo. No measuring, no drawing.

In order to win this script, add a comment on this Facebook post telling us if you ever used or created a similar type of mask for your project (remember, add a comment, not just a Like!) The winner will be announced in the newsletter, next week. Not a subscriber yet? Not a problem. You can register here and it is free (and you only get one email per week).

Layered template in .pspimage formatAs a sample, I am giving you the same template created in the preview. It has unmerged layers so you can add shadows on the frames if you want, you can merge them all before adding shadows or add them individually. You can also change the frame colors, add a bevel, or tweak them as you wish.

What will you do with that?? I hope you show off your project.
