New script – Periodical

I have seen someone wear one of those t-shirts where individual tiles spelled out a meaningful word. I was wondering how to create those tiles for any word a user would want. And I did manage to code a script that will use any word you give to generate individual tiles.

The script also allows you to get four different styles with those tiles so they could fit your project.

For a sampler, I created the tiles to spell out the words ADORABLE and TECHNICAL. Each tile has a transparent background so you can add your own, and customize them further.

New script – Echo Text

You can showcase your favorite photo with a custom mask based on the text of your choice. You can choose any text, in any font. You can finish the script by editing the original text to something different if you want. You can move that text where you want on the project, whether it is on top, on the bottom, or in the plain center.

This is a great way to add a name, a date, an event, a location, or a meaningful phrase.

For a sample, I ran the script starting with the word "Family" in a fairly thin font, but finished it with a thicker version of the same name, placed at the bottom. This allows you to showcase your photo without interruptions in the middle.

New script – Doppler

Doppler effect script for PaintShop ProThe Doppler effect is that difference in sound you hear when a vehicle runs in your direction, and then away from you. It is a sort of echo of the soundwave.

This script will create that "wave" on top or on the bottom of any text you provide. You can use a solid color, a gradient or even a pattern. In the end, the main text and the "echo" will be on separate layers so you can apply different effects to it, separately.

Doppler effect on individual digitsAs a sample, I ran the script on individual digits starting with a black text. This will allow you to colorize the elements to match your project. To maintain the transparency on these digits while adding color, lock the transparency of the layer, fill with the material you want, and unlock the transparency.

New script – Layered Cutouts

Layered paper cutouts script for PaintShop ProIf you have some paper-related projects and you need a fun and unique title, why not use a series of layered outline cutouts? Although this might be a bit tedious to do manually, you are in luck as this script can do that for you in no time.

You can have a single color for all the layers, but you can also have a single color, fading to something lighter, layer by layer. You can also have two alternating colors for each layer or completely random colors, based on your choice of colors. You can choose any font you want and write any letters, digits or dingbats.

So many options to use.

New script – Shaped Text

Shaped Text script for PaintShop ProShaping text can be a tedious task using the current tools of PaintShop Pro because most of the time, you have to use the Warp Mesh tool and this means a lot of nodes to tweak to get a single shape.

This script includes options for 30 different "envelopes" to shape your text. This will be perfect for titles or wordart.

New script – Text Painting

The script will do all the work for you and paint using extracts from Alice in Wonderland. However, you can also use a different pattern or set of patterns (you could edit the script, to use multiple text patterns). You can use a page of binary code, or a love letter. You just have to make sure that you save your patterns in png format so it will give the wanted result.

Once done, you can also change the color of the final result.

New script – Text Paper

This script will do all the repetitive tasks for you in just a few seconds. You have total control over what font you want to use, what word or phrase you want to write and what size you want your strips to be. The script takes care of the rest.

Although the strips will be black, you have the option to change their colors as you wish.

Phrase cutout for Thanksgiving and New YearAs a sample of what can be done with this script, I wrote two common phrases that you might want to use in the next few weeks. The strips are black (the colors are for the preview only) and about 300 pixels high and 4800 pixels long so you can place them in various ways on your project.

These files are in .pspimage format, so can ONLY be opened in Paintshop Pro.

New script – Split Text

Split Text script for Paintshop ProHave you ever wanted to create a wordart with half of the text in negative from the rest? It is not too hard to do manually, but it requires accuracy. And then, if you want to create a series, it is longer.

This script will make this process very fast and easy.

The script will let you choose any text, and any font. You can separate the text any way you want in two lines. Then, the magic will happen and the script will split the text either horizontally, vertically or diagonally to create the cutout effect.

Once done, everything will be merged. If you want to colorize the end result, add a bevel, add a texture, etc. it will be up to you.

Split text monthsHow about a way to date your layouts? Whether you are making a Project Life album, or you just want a fun way to identify when those pictures were taken, here are some split months. Each one is about 420 pixels in height, and the width will depend on the text.

If you want to colorize then, you can do so to match your project. Add a texture if you want. Add a grungy look with some brushwork, etc.

New script – Twisted Text

cass-TwistedText

Although we often like to have regularly placed and perfectly aligned text, on some occasions we really want something funky and irregular. Do you know how to place each letter individually to create a funky text?

One method will require you to type one letter at the time, and rotate it and move it. Then repeat for the second letter, and the third. It is not hard, but it is definitely time consuming especially if you have more than just a handful of letters.

The other method is to type your text, normally, and then go with Objects > Convert Text to Curves > As Character Shapes. This will separate individual characters and convert them to shapes. Although they would remain as vector objects, they lose their Text properties: you can no longer change the font.

Finally, the third method is using this PSP script. In fact, the script will use the first method for you but much much faster. You can choose any text (any length), any font, any color (or even a gradient or a pattern), you choose how much rotation and displacement you want, and if you want to have the colors (in case you picked more than one) to appear in sequence (like in the alphabet in the preview) or in random order (like in the “Suzanne” of the preview).

Each letter is left, at the end, as individual vector objects, and still as text so you can, if you want, change the font for one or some letters/characters. You can also change the colors if you want or rearrange the letters. In fact, you can just use the randomly rotated letters and place them all around your layout if you prefer; no need to keep them in line either!

Grab this time saving script and have fun with Twisted Text.

If you want to learn how to create that kind of effect, manually (hopefully for only a handful of letters) and other fun text tricks, check out the Texting Again Master Class in the Scrapbook Campus.
