New script – Flat Paper Preview

Designers often use a stacked arrangement for their papers in kit previews since most of them are identifiable easily with only a portion of the whole paper, but other designers have papers that are more like photos, scenic backgrounds, paintings, or incorporate some hand made designs that differ from one paper to the other. In those instances, having all the papers stacked up, and showing only an edge would not showcase the beauty of the whole papers. Designers then want to have the papers placed side by side so the viewer can see the whole image.

Creating those previews will require the designer to resize the papers, and align them on previews. With just a few papers, it might not be too long but if one has a dozen papers, or more as in a collab kit, this can become quite tedious.

The script will do all the calculations, resizing, copying, pasting and aligning the papers. Save a lot of time because YOU dont have to open the papers one by one. YOU dont have to edit the script to find the papers. YOU dont have to bog down your PSP by having 12 full size papers open at the same time. YOU dont have to measure the size needed for the number of papers you want per preview. YOU dont have to align them all to look perfect. The script does all that work for YOU.

You can have the papers in 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, or 6x6 arrangement and if you have more papers than will fit in one preview, the script will know and create multiple previews. If you have fewer papers than what can fit in the arrangement you picked, you will have empty spots and you can move the papers around. The script will place guidelines to help you move the papers and keep them aligned perfectly, without any difficulty. Each paper will be on a separate layer AND renamed to match the filename. This will help you identify which paper is which.

This script can also be used to display QP and templates if you have several to showcase!

Since this week script is a tool, i chose to offer you some Christmas Gift tags made using the Ribbon Tag trees submitted by the users of the Ribbon Tag Tree script during our contest last month.

I used two of the trees submitted by Dianne. One was made with organza ribbons (i think she created the organza ribbons from scratch from a tutorial in the Element Creation Tutorials class of the Scrapbook Campus).

The other tree was made with straight rows of tubes: bead tube and garland.

The last tree was made using recolored version of a single extracted ribbon.

Use those tags on presents to put the name of the recipient of your gift, place them at the table with the name of the guests, etc. Each tag is a png image 600x300 pixels.

New font – Petals

Your program probably has some kind of vector flower shapes. How many? It depends on your program. But with this new font (yes, it is a FONT), you can create so many more designs.

This font includes 50 different petal shapes: some are similar but in different width so they make a great match to use in combination. Since they are fonts, you can use them around a vector circle as they will go just like a “text on path”.

Use any size you want since they are vector and they wont pixelate; you will always have smooth edges no matter how big you create the flowers.

But flowers are not the only thing you can use these for: create frames and borders. Repeat the same shape or alternate two or more. Choose any color or gradient or pattern, or “clip” a paper on them for a really matching element to your project.

That is not all. Do you own a cutting machine? you can create some gorgeous quilled flowers using a straight line of petals, cut them with the machine and then tightly roll them. Look at the fantastic result Connie got with this:

In fact, it was Connie who gave me the idea of this petal font. She initially used the Lace Edge font to create some quilled flowers. The number of designs was much more limited for this purpose so when she sent me the first sample, she said “it would be nice if you had other shapes”. And here we are now with a full set of 50 different petal shapes. Of course, not all the shapes are suitable for quilling, but they can be used to create vector flowers.

And But this is not all: since this is a FONT, it is not program specific. This means that, unlike most products in my store, you don’t have to have Paintshop Pro to use this font. You can use just about any graphic program including Photoshop and Photoshop Element. I didn’t try other programs, but i assume they would also work fine.

As a way for you to see this font “at work”, i created three layered flowers using it. They are PSD files so you can use them in PSP or PS or PSE.

For the white petals, i used the letter “d”. For the purple petals, i used the letters “u” and “v” on different layers. And for the yellow petals, i used alternatively the “U” and “W”. You can surely create many many more designs.

New script – Word Frame 2

A while ago, i released a script that made an inside frame, with text. It was a delicate result, using the Word Frame script. However, at times, one might want something a bit more obvious or something that can be turned into a wordart. This script will do just that.

You can start with a photo from your P365 stash, and add a border OUTSIDE the photo. You can add the word WEEK in plain view and add the number in a contrasting color and font. Depending on whether your photo format is portrait or landscape, you can choose to have the word on top or on the bottom, or on one side.

You can choose any word you want. However, be careful as longer words will be made to fit in the space so if you are trying to write BEAUTIFULLY in a small space, the text will be kind of squished!

The font will be whatever you choose and unlike many other scripts, you will NOT have to type the name and risk a typo; the script will stop and let you choose the font from the text tool toolbar so you will have no problem with typing.

Once the word and the font are chosen, you will get four options to display that word: colored, outlined, cutout, or translucent. Except for the cutout (obviously), the word is on a separate layer so you can still apply your own personal touch.

What can you do with this script? Whatever you want. With all the options available, you are sure to get a frame that will be perfectly matching your layout or your kit.

This week, i created four frames for you. Two in French and two in English. They would be perfect for a P365, or any “ordinary” photo (is any photo really ordinary?). You can add a date or a number in another font. Each frame is in greyscale so you can colorize them to match your project. Two frames are in PNG format, as they have only one layer, but two are in PSD format so you can actually move the words if you want, add a shadow, some brushwork, and also colorize them too.

Our July Anniversary Celebration ended, well… on July 31st! But although the big noisy promotions are over, some quiet ones will still take place. New script – Knot #7

Can anyone have too many ribbons and knots in their stash? Never! this script, although it is the 7th for knots, will give you still a different result from the other ones. This script lets you choose a ribbon from your current stash and tie it so you can get a perfectly matching knot and ribbon. How cool is that? Use any version of Paintshop Pro, 8 and up, and you can get this fun, simple and versatile knot out of your ribbon. Unlike other scripts, the ribbon is actually cut in sequential pieces so that if you have a gradient, or a directional design, it will really follow. If you have a translucent ribbon, you will actually “see” the whole path of the ribbon, even the part that goes behind the knot and is otherwise hidden. Even the fold of the pieces will be perfectly matching.

Also, the shading will give that realistic look to the ribbon. In the end, you will get separate pieces that are linked together. Use this feature to insert anything inside the knot. You can tie anything with them. And if you do not have a ribbon to use, the script can create one for you and you will have not only a knot but also a matching flat ribbon that you can use as is, or with another script. This is so neat!

I want you to have a good close look at the knot that this script can produce. I created a basic ribbon, and ran the script on it. You get the flat ribbon AND the layered knot. I reduced it to only 2 layers instead of the usual 8 layers that the script will produce, but you can still insert a ring, a stick, or anything inside that knot. You can get this freebie and use it on your layouts.

New script – Plastic Pocket

I noticed, in the digital scrapbooking forum, that member was looking for something that simulates those plastic pocket protectors and several designers replied with their own versions. Very interesting products, and varied, but as a script coder I was wondering how one could get a real custom sized pocket for their special element that might not be standard size.

Now, this script will let any Paintshop Pro user create single or multiple plastic pockets. Do you have a large or a tiny element to store? No problem. You can also make multiple pockets (up to 8 compartments), in vertical or horizontal strip. You can have the pockets open or closed, and with different types of cutout for the open pockets (you know, to help you get things in and out easier).

What would you put in those pockets? Just about anything you want. You can place photos, buttons, beads, chains, leaves, stickers, tickets, tags, even alphas to create a title! Yes, why not make a title with those multiple pockets? That is a cool idea!

I know you would like to see one of those pockets on your layout and play with it. You are lucky because i created this multiple pocket for you. It consists of two separate layers, in PSD format, so anyone can use it, even if you don’t have Paintshop Pro.

You will get a set of 6 open pockets, with that typical cutout on the top layer allowing you to get your elements to slightly stick out. For best results if you want elements to stick out, I would strongly recommend you watch the video on Interlacing element in PSP (even if you are not using Paintshop Pro, I am sure you can do something similar with Photoshop).

New script – Acrylic “Styles” for Paintshop Pro

Do you see all those styles available for Photoshop and wish you could use them in Paintshop Pro? Although this is not the case, this script will create a similar LOOK as some of the styles you could see to create acrylic. You get 6 options: dark edge, white edge, ridged edge, angled edge, flat border and colored acrylic.

Not only you can choose the type of edge, but you can also choose the thickness of the acrylic, meaning that the white reflection will be placed somewhat differently if you want a thicker or thinner element. Or in the case of the flat border and the angled edge, it will make it wider or narrower. The whole element will also be filled with a 5% opacity white so you will get that appearance of something to slightly change the color of the element or shape underneath. Another advantage of this fill is that you can grab and move the element without struggling to grab exactly the edge or so. No problem: grab it anywhere you want.

The script will use any solid shape to create the acrylic element on a totally separate layer so it will not affect the project you are currently working on.

New script – Subway Art

Did you ever see those posters or other types of wordart using that kind of varied fonts and even width? Did you ever try to do it yourself? It is fairly easy, but tedious. And choosing random fonts yourself is never that simple. So this script will help you do it in just a few seconds. Once the script is edited to include the fonts YOU have on your computer, you simply have to type in your text, run the script and follow the prompts.

You can include ANY font you have on your computer, and once you have edited the script with them, you don’t have to do it again. You can list as many fonts as you want, and the script will randomly pick them for you. This also means that you can run the script 10 times, and get 10 different results.

Then, you can choose any solid color, gradient, or pattern or any combination of the three. Try with a single gradient, or two opposite ones, or combine a gradient with a matching or contrasting solid color. Just about anything goes. And once the script is done, you have UNMERGED vector layers. That means that you have all the liberty to do any type of edition, whether it is changing a color, changing a font, changing the text or even resizing the text to insert different elements to the design.

And this week, there is a RAK thread in the Happy Place, but there is a difference: EVERYONE who will post in the thread with a phrase about Christmas will get a present, whether you are a PSP user or not, so don’t be shy. Go post and add your name.

As a sample, this week, i will give you this Merry Christmas wordart where i picked various ways to say “Merry Christmas” in different languages and ran the script on it (i do not know all those languages, so i relied on Google to help me; i hope there is not mistake).

New script – Word Edge Half Cut

Although you might be able to cut out text along the edge of your photos, the script will make the whole process much faster, easier and more accurate every time. And you have so many options to choose from that you can run the script many, many times and get different result every time. You get to choose the text, the font, the edge to cut from, the alignment, and you even have the option to rotate, change size, skew, stretch the text to your liking.

You can run this script directly on your photo and the script will automatically create a duplicate so the initial photo will be left totally intact. You can also run the script on a paper to create a journaling mat, or turn this into a frame. This might be especially good if you have a photo where no edge can really be cut out from.

New script – Ribbon Tag Flower

What do you do with your ribbons? Did you ever think of cutting some random pieces and place them into a flower shape? This is a fun twist to using ribbons, but it can be a bit tedious. That is, if you do it all manually. This new script for Paintshop Pro will let you create such a flower in less than one minute. This is a perfect tool to create an additional element for your kit, or to embellish your layout. Use ANY ribbon you have on hand, of any size, in any number. The script will randomly choose one ribbon at the time, and trim a piece of a random length and shape. Each flower can have a different number of pieces too. Basically, you can run this script hundreds of times and always get a different result.

The script will also allow you to add shadows to all the pieces if you want, and with the settings you want. And if you want even more choices, the script will give you the option to keep creating new flowers with the same ribbons, over and over again. Create 1 flower, or 10, or 50. Finish with your choice of fastener: staples, buttons, paperclips, stitching, etc.

New script – Colored Edge

In just a couple of clicks in your Paintshop Pro, you can add a colored and textured edge to ANY shape, of ANY size and you choose the color and the width of the border. Whether you want to add a colored edge to an alpha, a preset shape, or even a cut up photo, this script will make it a breeze.

The script will create TWO colored edge layers and leave them unmerged. Once the script is finished, you can merge the layers, or play with the opacity, the blend mode or simply separate them to use only the edges without the base shape. Perfect to add a little detail directly onto a photo, or on your background paper to include some journaling.
