New script – Shattered

How long would it take you to cut an image in random pieces, separate them in individual layers, resize them, rotate them, move them and then add shadows to each of them? With your Paintshop Pro and this script, it will only take you a few seconds and a few clicks. And if you dont like the result, no problem; run the script again. You will NEVER get the same result twice because of the random features incorporated into the code.

You can stop the script right after the pieces are cut and separated in layers, or you can keep going and get each piece slightly resized, rotated and moved randomly.

You can stop the script here too, or choose to add a drop shadow. In this case, you will decide on all the settings for the shadow and the script will apply the exact same settings on all the pieces, no matter how many there are. Since the script ends with unmerged layers, you can keep manipulating all the pieces as you wish, deleting some, moving others, etc.

Paintshop Pro X4 is out.

Paintshop Pro X4 came out Wednesday this week. I have been part of the beta testing team for a few months. If you want to know about the improvements or additions, and if it is not too late for you, you can join their live demonstration tonight (there is one left, and you can register here). One thing i can say is that it is more stable than X3 was, so it might interest you!

New script – Waterwork

How about some fresh water added onto your layout? This script will convert the text or design of your choice into clear water, complete with shine and refraction from the bottom surface.

You can get the script to use smaller droplets to fill in the design, or use the shape as is. Use any color if you want to simulate juice drops!

Exceptionally, this script will only work with PaintShop Pro 9 and up (sorry for PSP8 users).

All the designs will be slightly distorted, so straight lines wont stay perfectly straight, and corners will be rounded off. Use the simple round brush and hand write or hand draw something. Draw random blobs to create droplets, or draw letters in an uneven manner for best result.

As usual, i have a little freebie for you. This is a set of wet digits on a tag. Each tag was made using handwritten digits run through the script. You get all 10 digits and one blank tag for you to add your own.

Did you follow the newsletter from the Campus? Did you know that the second section should be released soon? Yes, the second section is all about creating elements yourself instead of solely relying on purchased supplies. You would then be able to either create your own elements yourself, from scratch with the shapes and colors you need, or you can learn to modify the elements you already have and personalize them to fit the layout you want to create. This should be open to registration soon. If you want to be among the first ones to register, you can add your name to this mailing list, and tell me which type of element/technique you want to learn about first. I have dozens and dozens of tutorials planned, but which ones will i release first? You tell me what YOU want! If you dont want to add your name to a list, you can just email me or even add a comment below. I will see it all.

New Script – FLower Power

This little script for Paintshop Pro might not seem like much but how often did you want to get a flower shape and had to do all the duplicating and rotating manually? This script will do just that for you. With a random feature integrated, you might get between 6 and 15 petals, and each petal will be slightly different in size and shape, so you will always get a new shape.

In addition to creating a different shape, you can generate it as a vector shape to be exported as a custom shape, so you can use it at any time, later on. You can choose to have it in layered raster with your choice of color, gradient or pattern, or you can ask for a plain basic flat sample, again in the color of your choice (perfect for layering).

Once the script is run, you can keep adding details, modify the individual petals, add glitters on the edge, re-arrange the petal order, remove one petal, etc. So many things you could do!

I am sure you are also looking for a freebie sample for this script. That is exactly what i did. I ran the script and got a few random shapes and i played with them. On one layered shape, i added a glittered edge with the Glittered Edge script on each individual petal, then i slipped the last petal under the first one for the gold color flower. Then, i played with the Felt script to add a felt texture on 3 coloured copies of the same flower, and layered them. You get one PNG sample and the matching PSD format flower. Finally, i ran the Inked Edge script on a purple flower, petal by petal, and then, i removed the petals themselves, leaving only the inked border. I think it does give a really fun result that i didn’t even expect! What can you do with that script?

For the fun of it, this week i took the time to create a scrap page about one day of geogaching with my husband. It was a fun day, and since i have been meaning to make a whole album on our geocaching adventures, which started 3 years ago with my sons, i think i just found a style that might work for this. FREE script for Paintshop – Punched

As i was looking at some paper scrap pages, i noticed that several of them used punched designs and it was giving that 3D look since the top paper was cut and you could see the other paper underneath through the hole. I figured i could replicate it in digital form using Paintshop Pro. It was easy. It might be something you can do manually, but i coded this script simply to make the process faster.

It is available exclusively in my personal store here.

As i was playing with the script, i used it on a single pattern, on a series of patterns to simulate a border, on a section of a photo, and on a word. I think it would look cool as a big title or even if you use it only on the first letter of the title. And what about using it on concentric circles (a smaller circle inside a larger one)?

The way the script is coded, it is somewhat of a “cheat” since the paper is not really punched as it looks. In fact, the punched look is attached to the shape itself, meaning that you can move the “hole” wherever you want. That means that you can change your mind as you are working on a layout, move the “hole” or even remove it completely and start over with a different shape or design. How neat is that?

I also tried it on a photo and simply selected various rectangular shapes, and deleted the rest. I ran the script and it looked fun. I just added a plain color under the holes (yeah, as if you could do that in paper scrapping!) and i really like the effect. This was just me playing around, without any particular plan to use that on an actual layout, but i might do that on my next scrap page. What do you think?

New Script – Stack’n Cluster

If you like the result of stacked papers and clustered elements but do not like the time involved in the copying, pasting, resizing, rotating, moving, in addition to the opening and closing of the files, you will LOVE this script. Created for Paintshop Pro scrappers and designers, you can use this script to save you a lot of time. The script is coded to go grab the papers directly into the folder you will indicate; no need to open all those papers and slow down your program. You choose the different options (how many papers you want, how much rotation you want, where you want the stack to be visibly overlapping, etc.) And the script goes with that. If you are not happy, the script will redo it, as often as you want. With a random command integrated in the script, you will never get the same result twice, even if you run it 50 times. Then, if you want to add elements to create a cluster, you just have to open the individual files, tell the script how many copies of each you want and where you want them, and the rest is like watching a movie: sit and enjoy. The script will NOT replace your creativity as it will only do the tedious part, the “technical” repetitive part, but it will NOT know how to place the papers and elements harmoniously. That is YOUR task as a designer or a scrapper. YOU have the final word. You can delete some of the elements, move them, resize them again, add other elements, etc. But it will take you much less time than doing it all manually, i promise!

She said it took her a whole 17 minutes to do them instead of an hour or more to get all those papers and elements ready into the layouts. Talk about a time saver!

And now, as usual, you want to see my products in action. Since this week’s script is a tool and i cannot really give you a sample, i thought you might want to play with some frames. This is a layered frame (because it includes 4 individual layers) in PSD format. You can use each frame separately, or in combination. They were made using the Decorative Stitches FONT. Yes, they are made using a FONT, not a brush (although i have them in brush format). This font (and all the others in my store) can be used with most graphic programs, as long as they can use outside fonts. And if your program can do text along a path, it can do stitching along a path too. Isn’t that great? Anyhow, start playing with this frame and since it is in greyscale, you can color it as you wish.

New script – Dimension

How would you like to add some depth to any shape you want with Paintshop Pro? No need for a filter or outside tool: this script will give you many options so you can create a 3D element starting with any shape. You can use any shape, drawing, letter, words, in just about any size although tiny shapes will not work well. You will get 5 options for the edge color: the same color as the top, a lighter shade, a darker shade, a greyscale version or a totally different color. One particularity of this script is that it will give a “shaded” look on the edges, changing them slightly depending on how they face an imaginary light on the top left of the element (if your layout implies a light coming from a different source, just mirror or flip the element to match).

You can add a thickness as small as 10 pixels or as large as 100 pixels, and you can also have the extrusion in 8 different directions.

You can use this script to create many different elements, alphas, wordarts, and probably more.

Try running the script several times on the same shape, with different colors or different thickness. It can look like a layered jello or an ice cream sandwich! Or how about running it several times with different directions or alternating left and right and left and right!

And how about this layered set of digits made using this script? With the blue, white and red, it can certainly match any American celebrations (July 4th) or our French cousins (July 14th) or Acadian friends (August 15th). This script will give you so many possibilities!

New script – Alpha Layer Stacker

Last week, I released a script that would take layered alpha and create title or text in just a few seconds, but creating a layered alpha was still a tedious task you had to do by hand, especially if you had an alpha in individual files. Now, this script will do that tedious work for you. This script will retrieve all the similar files in a folder you will indicate and all the files will be layered. Since you will be asked to name each layer as it is created (either with a lowercase, an uppercase, a digit or a symbol), you will be certain that the Text Creator script will now work in just a few seconds. Once you have your layered alpha, simply save it in psp or psd format.

Designers, you might want to offer your alphas in single sheet, individual files, and now, in layered format. The PSP users will thank you for that!

This weekend, it is Father’s Day on this side of the Atlantic. I dont know about other countries, in Europe or in Australia. But if it is not the time to celebrate Father’s Day, you can still get ready for next time you want to thank a man in your life for what he brought. This layered “album” can be used to create a hybrid photo album, or, if only printed, cut out and glued on cardboard, it can make a great card where all the children or other people touched by that special man can write good wishes, kids can stamp their hand or doodle for a great memorabilia. The album is about 12 inches long on separate layers (you surely can resize if you want a smaller version).

New script – Layered Pyramid

Are you into hybrid projects? This script will be perfect for you to speed up the process. It will create a various number of layers in the shape you want, and centered or off-centered, focussing on an element of your photo.

You will have many options to choose from: the number of layers, the shape, the centering, the shadow, the placement of the off-centered layer. You can use the script on any photo and use it on a digital layout, like any other scrapbooking project, or print the layers separately and then cut them one by one to create a hybrid montage.

Here is a card that was made by ooh-la-la-creation using this script. Isn’t this great?

New Tubes – Spiral Binding

This week, I am proposing you a brand new set of tubes for PaintShop Pro. These tubes allow you to create any kind of spiral bound books. They are detailed extractions of actual plastic spiral bindings in different colors (not colorized), and then cut specifically to be placed perfectly along the edge of a book. This week, you can get 4 complete sets of bindings: white, black, red and gold. You also get a tube for side binding, and a tube for central binding. Since shading a spiral binding is a little tricky, you get one set shadowed, and one set unshadowed. And what is a spiral binding without matching holes? That is why you also get a hole template tube, for side binding and for central binding. Basically, you get everything you need to place a custom binding on your work. To make sure that your spiral is perfectly straight, just click on the start, hold the SHIFT key, and click at the end of the line, guiding yourself on the ruler to be sure you are getting a vertical alignment and not angled. These tubes should be very useful in your digiscrap layout, to create some interesting layers, maybe for journaling, maybe to display some pictures!

New script – Twister

Do you sometimes find a template and would like to give it a funky look? Or have the various letters in a title placed not exactly even? Then you are in luck. This script for Paintshop Pro will let you do just that. You will be able to look at any template and add a “funky” version to your digital scrapbooking supplies.

If you want to keep some layers untouched, you simply have to hide that layer and the script will skip it. You get to choose if you want a little bit of rotation or more, and if you want a little distortion or more.
