New script – Alpha-Beads 2

cass-AlphaBeads2

Unlike the previous Alpha-Beads script, this one will generate a different type of beads, but the basis is the same: you choose the font, the text, the color of the bead, the color of the text, the transparency. You can also choose whether you want the colors (of the beads or the text or both) to be all the same, or using multiple colors and if using more than one color, if you want them in sequence or randomly picked.

You can type in any word or phrase, and the script will create a bead for each character, whether it is a letter, a digit, a symbol or a space. You can also create blank beads, or a bead where you will add your own design that is not in a font format.

These beads give the impression of being slightly indented. Attach them with a string, a pin, a toothpick, a chain, or glue them on their own to create dates, names, phrases, titles, etc.

You can get this script in my store: Creation Cassel

In the Happy Place, there is a draw for this script. You can win this script on Monday if you add your name to the thread. But that is not all. EVERYONE who posts in the thread will win something. Place your order of what kind of beads you would want, and on Monday night, i will draw for one order and EVERYONE will get that order. So even if you are not a PSP user, you can enter and you WILL win something. Go for it!

cass-AlphaBeads2-BlackWhite-digits

This week, i created a simple and versatile set of alpha beads with digits, a blank and a few symbols that can let you create dates.

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

A full set of beads for the whole alphabet will be available to our newsletter subscribers, so you can complete this set.

Our newsletter is released on Sunday morning, so you still have time.

New script–Clothes Labels

cass-ClothesLabels

Have you ever seen some original kinds of labels? Although you would usually expect washing instructions, you can also get company logos on them. You can also buy, custom labels to put on kids clothes with their name (I used that when my three kids were in daycare) or some special labels to place on sewing projects that were handmade that read “Made by Mom”.

These kinds of custom labels can also be used in digital scrapbooking with just about any design, shape or text you want. How about using these to create a date element? Or a special phrase? or a name? or even a particular event with a symbol for it? Just about anything is possible with this script.

The way the script is coded, you just have to start with a design of any kind, of any size. From that, the script will measure a proportionally sized “excess” of fabric for the stitching, depending on the type of stitching you want and will prompt you for various custom details, like the color of the fabric, the color of the thread, the straight/zigzag stitching, and if you want to add a 3D effect with either bevel or lifting of the label. And if you want to add a shadow, it will be left on its own layer so you can tweak it more if you want.

You can get this very creative script in my store: Creation Cassel.

And as usual, there is a thread in the Happy Place of DST forum where you can add your name for a chance to win. But even better, suggest something you would like to see on a clothes label, and after the draw (Monday night), i will create a set of labels with all the suggestions given, and everyone who posted will get the set, even if you don’t use PSP. What are you waiting for?

cass-ClothesLabels-samples

I created 3 labels with this script (2 of them have different spelling for our Mom/Mum). They are in PSD layered format so you can still tweak them. The shadow is separate and so is the stitching (although the shadow of the stitching is attached).

Where will you use those label?

And if you like this why not tell your friends on Facebook and on Twitter. Send them over so they can also download them.

Workshop-DVD-Case-ShadowsLast week, the Realistic Shadows in Digital Scrapbooking Master Class was offered at a really great deal through Digigrab. But that deal ended Thursday and i got emails asking me if i could extend the deal. Unfortunately, that deal was outside of the Campus site so it could not be extended just with the snap of a finger. BUT, i managed to make it available directly ON THE CAMPUS SITE until August 31st. To take advantage of the 60% off deal and get this master class for only $8, you need to use this code:

GRAB-0824-492

You can checkout directly from this page, but if you want to read more about shadows, you can check THIS PAGE. But the code will self destruct on Sept 1st so you better hurry!

Do you like the idea of creating a “scrapbooking” present for Christmas for relatives? Do you like the idea of a totally FREE digiscrap project? Do you want to get started in digital scrapbooking but you feel you need very basic and step by step instructions? If you answered “yes” to even ONE of those questions, stay tuned as there will be a great new offer in the Campus. But best of all, it will be available to all current and future members. Even better than that, it will be FREE. How can you beat that?

SneakPeak

Here is just a little sneak peak of what it will be. Although it might give you a general idea, you don’t know how BIG it is!

If you have not yet joined the Campus, just register. It is free too! And bring in your friends too!

New Script – Word Frame 2 Round

cass-WordFrame2Round

Last week, I brought you a script to create a square or rectangular frame around a photo, an element, or on its own. However, i thought it would be great to have some round (or oval) ones, so you could simulate postmarks but create your own. Of course, this required some shaping of the text in the area since it was no longer a simple rectangular area. This is done with the Warp Mesh.

Although this script will work with a photo, I find that you might be loosing a bit more of the photo with a round frame, so if you use that option, just be careful what photo you are using.

Unlike the previous script, this time, you are able to choose whether you want to have 25%, 40% or 50% of the space filled with the material you choose. This allows you even more flexibility and creativity.

Use this script on any size image so you can create a journaling area, or make it small to create a date stamp. Add your own word, date, name, to the frame to make something truly unique.

And as a bonus, you can still use the Warp Mesh on your own, maybe to add another shaped word on the “open” side? Why not. The Warp Mesh is included in the zip file and you can surely reuse it.

You can grab this script in my store: Creation Cassel.

cass-WordFrame2Round-samplersAnd as usual, i have a giveaway for you. Just go add your name to this thread in the forum, and i will pick a winner on Monday night. It is that easy.

If you want to have a closer look at these frames, i created a set of round ones with the days of the week. They are 800x800 pixels in greyscale png format. This allows you to resize them if you want, and colorize them to match whatever project you are making.

New script – Photo Blocks

cass-PhotoBlocks

Last week, someone told me she wanted to find scripts to add some photo effects. She had seen all those fancy actions for Photoshop, but she was using Paintshop Pro. She asked me if i could do some. Without a specific effect in mind, i just browsed the net for interesting photo effects, photo frames, and such. I ended up on a collage effect, and sure enough, there was a tutorial for achieving it in Photoshop. I started reading the instructions, trying to see if it could be done in Paintshop Pro too, but i got discouraged with the amount of work it involved. I had no intention of working on 60 individual layers, even in PSP, so i thought of a different way to achieve it and it was also easy to turn into a script. Although doing it manually is not hard, it still takes time, so the script will allow you to  get a great result in no time.

The script will generate small, medium or large squares, depending on what you choose. It will generate many blocks. Maybe you will find that some spots are not covered, or maybe you won’t like the arrangement. No problem. Ask the script to add more blocks. In fact, they are “full” blocks with an outline, so even if you were to add 200 blocks, you will not see a ton of outlines.

If you end up with something that is almost perfect, but you still want to tweak it, no problem: you can add more blocks with the tool that will be already set for you. And you can also add a rectangular block for a real focus on a part of the photo.

This script is available in the store: Creation Cassel

cass-PhotoBlocks-samplesAs usual, you can add your name to the RAK thread in the DST forum for a chance to win this script. Just tell me how you would do this manually. I will be back on Monday night to draw for a winner.

As a freebie, this week, i created a mask and a matching png template. You can use either one, depending on your program or the technique you want to use. It is suitable for a 6x4 photo, but as a mask, you can use it with a larger image. Not only you can use it on a photo, but maybe you can also use it with a paper. That would make a fun background, don’t you think? And it will be great to use with the upcoming workshop on Masks!

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

Sarah had fun with the License Plate script last week. She posted her dream plate. Isn’t that gorgeous?

Sarah-dream-plate

I would love this as a dream plate too, since i have never been in Hawaii. That would be great!

New from the Campus

T-Teejay Last week, we held two totally new activities. They were both called Video Speed Scrap, but really, they should be renamed. One was on templates and one was on monograms. It was really fun to all work on our own project yet be able to see what others were doing. That is the beauty of the set up we had. The participants all created templates and monograms. You can see one monogram that Teejay did. They will be distributed to all the Campus members as soon as i get all the pieces together. Here are some comments sent by the participants:

“Amazing” – Rachel

“I really liked being able to see your screen” – Susie

“It was fun. Lets do it again.” – Elaine

“i thought it was fantastic... what a great way this would be ..to learn of each other..this was what the net is meant for” – Teejay

Are we going to have another one of those? Probably. When? That, i don’t know. I am thinking of repeating the event with similar themes but i also have other ones in mind. When that will be scheduled, i will post it for you.

Finally, both the Basic Scrap course and the Element Creation tutorials course are still on sale. This will only be available for a few more days as it will end at midnight on July 31st. Check them out.

On August 5th, we will have our next live workshop. The theme will be Masking in PSP. We often see masks as individual products in stores, but how do you use them? Can they have other purpose than just making a nice shape around a photo?

We’ll be looking into that. Of course, if you have any particular question you would like us to address during the workshop, just drop us an email, or include the question in your registration form.

New script – Leather Tag

cass-LeatherTag

There is always a way to use a leather tag, whether it is attached to a key chain, as a label on a jeans pocket or a travel tag on a luggage. This script will let you create your own custom tags, of any shape, with any kind of imprint on it.

Write a name, a date, a place, an event. Make it into a frame. Attach it to a chain, a string or a ribbon. Make an alpha if you want.

The leather texture is not the same for every run of the script since there is a little random feature included in the code so even if you run the script twice on the same shape, using the same colors, you will not get exactly identical tags.

The possibilities are endless.

You can grab this script in my store at Creation Cassel.

As usual, there is a thread in the DST forum where you can add your name and be entered into a draw to win this script. Go check it out HERE and remember that if you want to take advantage of the weekend sale price ($4.50 until Sunday night), and you win the draw, then, you can win a coupon for a future release. So don’t delay.

cass-LeatherTag-samples I am sure you want to have a look at these tags, before purchasing them, right? Of course. So i created a few free samples for you. You get 3 instead of 2 because i know that our UK friends are using a different spelling than the commonly seen “Mom”, so to give them an opportunity to use this freebie, i made one with “Mum” too.

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

If you use this freebie in a layout, i would LOVE to see it, so don’t be shy. Show off your masterpiece!

New font – Hinges for all

cass-Hinges1b

Who is the handiest person in the family? Do you have carpentry projects you want to create layouts about? Or maybe you want to attach two frames together? Now you can do just that with this FONT. Yes, it is a font and not just vector shapes. Why? Because fonts are not program specific so any program able to handle outside fonts can use these. Also, if you use the same font size, you can combine them to create asymmetrical hinges, and they will match perfectly. Another BIG advantage of fonts is that you can use them as large as your program can handle without any loss of quality. Add the color, texture, finish of your choice to match your kit, photo or layout.

With a little tweaking, you can also add that 3D effect that is typical of the central part of the hinge, where you add a “pin” to attach both sides.

cass-Hinges1 Since you have 20 different designs, and you can mix and match them, it means you have up to 400 possible combinations. Look at these examples.

You can grab this FONT in my store: Creation Cassel.

cass-Hinge1-sample

I am sure you would want to check it and play with one of those hinges so i made one just for you. It is a PNG format so you can use it in any program and it is pretty large. This should allow you to size it down to what you need. What will you do with it? Show us!

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

New script – File Tabs

cass-FileTab

I don’t know about you, but i have thought of using file tabs in a layout only to find that the few tabs i had in my stash, didn’t really fit my project. If you ever experienced the same problem, you will now have the solution. This script offers you MANY possibilities to create your own tabs. Not only you can choose the color of the tabs, but you can choose the text and the font. Even better, the tabs will always be the right size. How can the script do that? It measures the size of each word you want to put and uses the size of the longest word and plan all the tabs around that size. You won’t see the script do it as it works in the blink of an eye but it does give you that perfect result every time.

You can create a blank tab of the size you want or a single tab with some text. But you can create several tabs either separately or on a single image. If you want them on a single image, you can have them all stuck on the same piece of paper or on separate papers. Talk about versatile! What can you use those for? Just about ANYTHING you want. You will fall in love with those and i am sure you will find many uses for them either in kits or in layouts.

You can find this fantastic script in my stores: Creation Cassel and DigiScrapWarehouse.

cass-FileTab-sample-dateI am sure you would love to win this script, right? Just hop over the Happy Place thread HERE and tell me ONE use you can think for those tabs. I will be drawing for a winner on Monday night.

As for a freebie, you can grab this sample here. I created a series of four tabs for you to add dates to your project 365 or any other layout. I initially had the word “December” in there so the tabs would be long enough for you to add a month name, and then i changed it to only “month”. This allowed all the tabs to be larger than if i had use the word “month” in the script itself. This set of tabs comes in PSD format, fully layered so you can use fewer than the four tabs available. You can also use the tabs without the paper base and apply them to your own papers or even directly onto a photo.

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

If you like workshops, you will be spoiled in April. I will be hosting one on April 1st called Color your world, on colorizing: we will look at colorizing elements for your layouts or your kits, but also adding colors to photos, so you will be able to use those tips for other purpose than scrapbooking. You can register right now for it. Just click this yellow button.

But that is not all. Corel also has some regular workshops they call Shop Classes for their various products, including Paintshop Pro. I was invited to present one such workshop on April 2nd (yes, just the day after the other workshop). The topic is: Introduction to scripts in PaintShop Pro. I know a lot of you have asked me questions about scripts, how to use them, what they can do and such. You’ll have a chance to hear answers to a lot of those questions during that one hour class. And it is FREE. I was told they might expect over 100 attendees AND there will be something drawn as a participation prize. Don’t wait and register NOW.

Do you have an older version of PSP and you are looking for the patches since you had to reinstall it to a newer computer? The Corel site does not carry the older PSP version patches, but you can find them all neatly stored in the Campus. Those patches are all free so you can download them as you need them. Check this PSP Patches section.

Last week, due to time limitations, no new tutorial was added to the Element section but i will catch up this week and upload TWO to make it up.

Keep an eye on this blog or on our mailing list as i will be having a special call soon. Not a CT call, but something for the Campus itself. Maybe tomorrow, or Sunday. I am not telling anything more… yet! You’ll have to be patient.

New script – Embossed

cass-Embossed

Although there is an Embossing effect in PSP, i always felt it was not right. First off, it has light coming from a different angle from what i use and it usually was too bold so i decided to create a script to make different types of embossing.

This script will start with any design, pattern, image or text (choose black for best result). Then, simply run the script. Whether you have a paper beneath or not, it will not matter as the script will create an embossed “layer” that is separate from the paper, meaning you can modify it afterward, or even save it and use it on a different paper. How neat is that? You can use it for embossing a whole paper, a border, a tag, a strip of paper, etc.

In addition, the script offers you 3 types of embossing, from the bold one to the delicate one.

You can get this script in my store: Creation Cassel .

And of course, you have a chance to win this script in the Happy Place of the DST forum. Check out this thread where you can give me ideas on how embossing could be used in digital scrapbooking. Can you think of something innovative?

cass-Embossed-Samples And what about a little sampler of an embossed layer? Here are two samples. They will fit a photo or a mat about 7 x 5 inches. They are in PNG format, so you can use them in just about any graphic programs. And you can adjust them, blend them with a paper of a different color,  resize them, etc.

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

This week, i received a very nice email from Linda who had just purchased the ClipToIt script (released last week). She sent me a sample of her work (but i cannot share it here because we don’t have the credits). Here is her email:

Hi Cassel - I attached a template that I have never been able to use correctly until your new script "Clip To It",  and my layout includes the bright yellow glow under the template using your Colored Edge Script and the blue tab is from your felt presets -

You have made scrapbooking so enjoyable - I just can't tell you enough how much I enjoy all your tools.

hopefully our Australian colleagues will be able to attend)

Are you doing a Project 365 (or 366) this year? Do you want to know a little bit more about it? Check out last week’s article in the Campus Scrapping in the New Year – Project 365. There should be another article this weekend, along with a list of resources for you if you decide to take on that project. Are you starting one?

New script – Clip To It (and another script)

cass-ClipToIt

If you have lots of photos you want to use in your scrapping, you will definitely love this script, as it will save you a TON of time. Usually, if you are using a template, you have to place the photo on your work, resize, move and rotate the photo approximately to match the space you want to use in the template. You might play with the opacity to give you an idea of how to center Aunt Lucy’s face in the space, and then, you have to select, change layer, trim, and maybe you end up not happy with the result. Did that ever happen to you? This script will save you all that trouble. Once you add the photo on the template, run the script and magically, the template layer changes to a mask layer, and the photo gets slipped underneath, so you can actually SEE through the mask. Not only that, but you can still move, resize, rotate the image while you clearly see what it will look like. No more guessing, no more undoing. And once you are happy with the result, simply merge the group and that is it!

If you are using PSP9 or above, you can even bind this script so the whole process will be literally ONE CLICK. What do you think of that?? You can grab this script in my store: Creation Cassel .

If you want a chance to win this script, go add your name to this thread in the Happy Place and tell me what is your biggest challenge when using templates for layouts. I will be back on Monday with the name of a winner.

cass-OpenAsLayer Last week, i was discussing with another PSP user, who can code scripts. He showed me that he had tweaked and combined a couple of scripts from Corel so that you can open an image (or photo, element or paper), copy it, paste it as a new layer on your project, and close the initial file, all that in one run of a script. I thought it was a super idea. I then decided to tweak it myself too, so that the new layer will be renamed according to the filename of the image that was opened. And again, if you bind the script, you can do that as easily as choosing Open… command. Since this is NOT my script, i asked LeviFiction for the permission to distribute it in my store (until he has his own site up and running). Can you imagine the time you will save using this FREE script (calledOpenAsLayer) and theClipToIt script? You can create layouts using templates in a fraction of the time it would take you to do it the usual way.

But that is not all. Remember when you wanted to take note of all the products you used to list the credits? I have a script called Credit List Compilation. It will assume that you renamed all the layers according to the element you used. And it assumed that you did that manually. Now, you don’t have to do anything manually as this script will just do that for you! WOW!!!!

This script is only available in my personal store: Creation Cassel.

cass-WordAlbum-2011 I am sure some non-PSP users are anxious to grab a free sample from here, and the free script is really no use for them, so i decided, since it is the end of the 2011 year, that you might want to create another album to combine some photos from this last year. I had a similar album last year and i have to say that it was very popular!

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

I didn’t set up a pay-with-a-tweet or such, but i sure would appreciate it if you did tweet or post on FB about this.

Why not make a summary of your kids’ year, and repeat the same tradition every year. Imagine the nice collection they will have in the future!

2012

Did you take lots of pictures during the holiday season? Do you plan on making lots of layouts in 2012? Do you want to start digital scrapbooking with PSP? or maybe, in 2012, you want to start creating some elements yourself, or at least add a little touch of YOURSELF instead of only relying on the kits made by others? You are in luck. If you keep an eye on the Campus, you will hear of a special promotion that will start on January 1st. Don’t blink because this promotion will ONLY last for 5 days (from January 1st to 5th). You will have a special price for the Basic Scrap course, and a special price for the Element Creation tutorials section.

TopSecret

Do you wonder what you can find in the Element Creation Tutorials? Keep your eyes open as there will be a super special secret sneak peak (that is a tongue twister, isn’t it?). What will it be? Well, if i told you, it would not be a secret, would it? So you will have to keep checking the Campus pages or even better, join the mailing list so you can get the news as soon as it is out!

The next webinar will be held on January 8th, but this time, it will be 2 hours later than usual. Why? so we can offer a more reasonable time to our Aussie friends. I hope they will be able to make it. This month, we will look at different ways to create seamless designs, whether you want to use a particular paper or image on your blog and make it seamless as you scroll down, or if you want to create a paper pattern from scratch (and there is more to come too).

New script – Gift Card Box

cass-GiftCardBox

Last week, i downloaded a box template from one of those craft sites, and i printed it out, cut the piece and folded it. I realized that although it was a nice box, it would not fit something i had on my desk: a gift card. So that got me thinking that i would need a different format. And while checking out the measurements, i also noticed that all gift cards were not the same size so why not make a script that would take the needed dimensions and create the template of the correct size. Then, why not add a fun closure but something for the user to choose: ANY design! And that is how this script came to be. For this holiday season, you can create a seasonal design, use your favorite papers, and have fun. Since the script is totally customizable, you can decorate the box to your liking with whatever digital supplies you have and even with paper scrapping supplies. Add glitters, stamps, inking, alphas, anything you have on hand. Use a simple closure design, like a heart or a diamond, or something more intricate, like a  detailed flower. It is your choice. The script will create a template in three layers: the outline that you can use on the reverse of patterned papers, the shape template that you can use to fill with your digital papers, and the closure in case you want to cut it separately to glue on your patterned paper. You can print one or all the layers. The maximum size will fit a printing area of 8 x 10 inches, so it should allow you to print right at home!

You can grab this script and make many different gift boxes, in my store: Creation Cassel .

cass-GiftCardBox-sampleAnd how about a chance to win it? There is a thread in the DST forum where you can tell me how you wrap gift cards. I will come back on Monday night with a winner.

And of course, i am sure you would love to get your hand on this poinsettia gift card box. It is a layered template in PSD format so you can use it in just about any program.

COREL PROMOTION - Did you take advantage of the super duper Black Friday/Cyber Monday price for the PSP X4? I hope so. If not, all is not lost as it is still somewhat on special, but not as low. Right now, you can get it at $59.99 instead of $79.99 (and free ground shipping).

WEBINAR - This Sunday, December 4th, at 3pm Eastern time, we’ll have a follow-up on last month’s webinar. This time, we’ll look at additional details in a “day converted to night” photo.

  • Add lit windows
  • Add street lighting
  • Add holiday lights
  • Emphasize a subject in the night

If you have photos you would like me to use, you can email me with a link to your photo (you can upload them on Photobucket, or somewhere else). Sending me a link instead of the actual photos will make it lighter in a message! This previous example is using a photo from Vicki. Come on, you have less than 2 days to register (and if there are enough people requesting this webinar who cannot attend due to time zone or others, i would consider repeating it, but you HAVE to register first).

FREE PRODUCTS - Did you like the free Gift Card Box template from above? In the Campus, there will be a set of SIX templates for you to grab.

They will be uploaded this weekend so come back to the Campus (in the Free products section).

See you around.
