New script – Woven Ribbon #1

cass-WovenRibbon1

I had written a tutorial a few years ago on how to create a woven pattern in Paintshop Pro, without using any outside plugin. As i was looking at the steps, I challenged myself to find a way to do it with a script. Let’s remember that a script does not “see” the work and requires numbers for just about any command. Well, I am pleased to say I made it. This script will take any ribbon (you can also use lace, string, chain, braid, etc.) and make it into a simple woven pattern using four segments of the ribbon (so all segments are not exactly the same for a more realistic look).

The script will create a seamless tile that you can then use to floodfill any larger surface, and since you can vary the scale and the angle of the tile when you set the material.

Not only can you use the same exact ribbon four times, but you also have also the option to do some adjustments to each segment, like changing the brightness or colorizing. What can you weave? Just about anything that is kind of straight!

You can get this script in my stores: Creation Cassel and DigiScrapWarehouse.cass-WovenRibbon1-sample

And if you want a chance to win this script, check out this thread at the DST forum and just add your name to the thread.

How about a couple of samples to see what YOU can do with such seamless tiles. I created these two tiles using the script. The green one is using one ribbon from KimericKreations. The rope tile was made using a rope tube. What would you do with those?

New Script – Quick Wrap

cass-QuickWrap

Do you sometimes want to wrap an element with a ribbon for a dramatic look? To achieve that result, you probably do it the long way: cutting a piece of ribbon, copying, pasting, moving, rotating, trimming, shading and then, onto the next piece. If you want only a couple of pieces, it might be a reasonable process but if you want 10 pieces, or if you want to use 2 different ribbons, then, it can become very tedious. This script for Paintshop Pro, will go through that process in less than one minute for you.

With this script, you are not limited to use one kind of frame, or one kind of ribbon. You can use ANY element to be wrapped, be it a frame, a photo, a tag, and you can use ANY ribbon or lace you want, as long as it is the correct length for the script to run smoothly. Then, you can choose how many “wraps” you want (from 3 to 10), and you can also choose to add a shadow to each of the layers (remember, you might have a few there!), with your choice of settings. In the end, the result will be on separate, but linked layers.

So, what do you think of such a script? You can get this script in my stores: CreationCassel and DigiScrapWarehouse.

If you want a chance to win this script free, just add your name to this RAK thread in the DST forum and tell me what you would wrap with this script. I will pick a winner Monday night.

cass-QuickWrap-sample As usual, you surely want to have a closer look at what the script can do. So, as usual, i have a sampler for you. I created this wrapped frame from scratch. The ribbon uses a lace from Buzy Bee Scrap (i cannot find a valid link for her blog for now so if you have one, please, let me know). Not only the wraps were made using the Quick Wrap script, but i also added, manually, one piece made using the Knot #3 script.

The frame is a PNG format so just about anyone can use it. In addition, i am providing the straight ribbon so you can match it in your layout, or use it to make a bow or a knot or even to wrap other elements if you want!

REMINDER

Did you get a discount coupon from the April promotion i had in the store? Remember that this coupon is only valid in May 2011! You have just over a week left to use it! You better start shopping!

New Script – Palette Expander

cass-PaletteExpander

Do you sometimes have a color palette to work with but feel somewhat trapped by the given colors, wishing you had more options? Maybe you want some in-between colors that would still fit the palette, yet, be different enough to give some flexibility? This script will help you achieve this. All designers using Paintshop Pro will want this. If you have a starting palette of 5 colors, you will be able to expand your palette to add many many intermediate colors. Choose any 2 colors from the palette, and choose how many colors you want the script to generate (from 3 to 10), and just watch it go. It will take only seconds and you will now have a perfectly matched set of colors to create richly colored scrapbooking kits.

You can get this marvellous tool at my stores: Creation Cassel and DigiScrapWarehouse.

And if you want a chance to get this script free, add your name to the RAK thread here and i will come back Monday with a winner. Even if you decide to purchase it at sale price, you can still add your name and if you win, then you get a coupon for a future new release.

cass-WordAlbum-MOM Since this weekend is Mother’s Day at least in some countries (i am not sure about everywhere in the world), i thought it might be a fun to create either an album or even a multipage wishing card for your mom or any other mom you know who deserves well wishes. This album, created with the Word Album script. It is 6 inches high and just over 10 inches wide. You can resize it down if you want to use it only as a card. It is available in layered PSD format for use with most graphic programs.

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

Now…. are you shopping a lot for this iNSD weekend? Still some energy? Want a surprise?

I will have a 40% sale on ALL MY PRODUCTS Sunday, May 8th. If you missed my Birthday sale, this is the perfect opportunity to catch up. You are VERY lucky there is a second sale in my store within such a short period of time, as it is a very rare occurence. So, hold on to your wishlist and come back Sunday, for 24 hours.

New Script – Cookie Cutter

cass-CookieCutter

You know how cookie cutters are used to cut out cookies always in the same shape, of the same size out of cookie dough. This script for Paintshop Pro will do just about the same thing (without the dough). Unlike actual physical cookie cutters, you can use ANY SHAPE you want. You can use circles, rectangles, hearts, stars, arrows, spirals, ovals, frames, etc.

And more than choosing the shape, you can use any paper you have, colored or not, textured or not, big or small, from your stash or your kit. You can choose 1, 2, 10 papers, or how many your computer can handle open at once. The script will cut out the same shape, with some options of whether you want always the same size or slightly different, but it will cut from different sections of the papers every time. This means that even if you were to get 10 shapes from the same paper, the end result would be 10 different pieces. Isn’t this great?

Now, what can you do with so many little pieces of papers? You can create clusters, strings, mosaic, borders, patchworks, and probably more.

You can get this script in both of my stores: Creation Cassel and DigiScrapWarehouse.

cass-CookieCutter-sampleAnd why not try to get it for free too? Check this thread in the DST forum, add your name and wait for Monday night.

I am sure you would love to see something made with this script. Initially, i was wondering what i could make as a sampler, since this is mostly at TOOL script and useable with your own papers, but i found some textures i scanned a while ago and used just as texture, so i used those “images”, colored them in red/pink shades and used a heart shape to run the Cookie Cutter script. Once done, i simply aligned the hearts, mirrored some of them and added some bead tubes i had. I think it looks cool, dont you? This string is 4000 pixels long so you can size it down a bit if you want.

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

Do you want to see something else made with this script? Suzy, who was the one who suggested this idea made this layout using the kit Chatterbox from Sandra of Studio 68. Click on the image to reach my gallery where she posted it, so you can give her some love. How long do you think it would have taken to cut out all those circles?

New script – Noted

cass-Noted

This script for PaintShop Pro will let you create fun journaling tags for just about any occasion, layout or kit. You choose the size and the base color, and run the script. That is it. Oh, wait. You have options. You can choose the colors of the lines, and the number of lines you want to show. In the end, you have unmerged layers so you can remove the outline if you want, remove some lines, change the color of some, etc. You can also create tags to print. Great for hybrid use.

You can get this script at either one of my stores: Creation Cassel, DigiScrapWarehouse.

And as usual, if you want to have a chance to win this script, hop over the DST forum in this thread and tell me what is the oddest shape tag you ever used.

cass-Noted-tags What about a free sample of what this script can do? Here are three fun tags you can use in your layouts or kits (remember that you cannot use these AS IS, commercially, but you can if you modify them). What do you think?

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

New script – Worn Edge

cass-WornEdge

The idea for this script is an old one. In fact, i had a similar script in a grab bag about 2 years ago, but this time it is much more advanced, and has more options. It also works with Paintshop Pro 8 now.

This script will “chew up” all around the edges of any element or shape you want. You can have a little wear, or more. Then, you can decide if you want to add a light, dark, colored or no border all around. This is already giving a lot of flexibility to match any kit or layout. But wait, you can also choose to have a thin, medium or thick edge, so that is even better!

You can get this script in my stores: Creation Cassel and DigiScrapWarehouse.

Would you like a chance to win this script? Check out this thread in the DST forum and just go add your name. A winner will be announced on Monday night.

cass-WornEdge-sample

How about a little sample of what this script can do? You can get these free tags in png format for you to use in kits or layouts.

Now, are you anxious to hear about the February promotion winners? The draw has been made, and was recorded. The official announcement will be made tomorrow, in the newsletter, and then, i will post on this blog. But of course, if you are more curious, and want to know the result the earliest you can, just make sure you are subscribed to my newsletter. If not, you can still subscribe here.

And the CHAT? Did you remember our monthly chat? It will be held tomorrow at 3pm ET in the DST chatroom. (that makes if for around noon on the west coast, and evening for Europe) Tomorrow’s topic: Brushes. See you there!

Corduroy sampler

cass-Corduroy-sample

Did you think i had forgotten about a sample this week? I guess i was just not quick enough. I didn’t know what kind of sampler would be useable and then, i thought of one pair of pants i had to patch/customize for my daughter and when i asked her what design she would like, she said “mushrooms”. So i figured that if a mushroom appliqué was interesting for her, it might suit you too so here is my sampler for this week.

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

The appliqué is about 900 x 900 pixels and the texture was created using the Corduroy script. Looking at it closely, you can get an idea of what the script can do (all three designs).

Enjoy!

New script – Stacked up

cass-StackedUp

I have seen on some layouts, this kind of effect of using a single photo and stack several duplicate of the same image. I guess it is a good idea to use the same photo as opposed to different photos, since the viewer would get annoyed at not being able to see what is peeking out from under the main one. Thinking of all the steps required to accomplish this, I figured that a script would probably make this easier and much faster than manually do all the step: duplicating, rotating, displacing, bevelling, shadowing and possibly linking. This script will do it in less than a minute (i timed 32 seconds to duplicate 10 times, and add a bevel and a shadow to each and then linking everything).

And you know, you do not have to keep all the images placed where the script put them. The end result will be different every time since there is a random feature coded in the script. Also, all the layers can be linked but always left unmerged so any layer can be moved further. You can even use all the layers to scatter the pictures around your layout instead of keeping them stacked in one place. Or,  how about stacking two sets of pictures and kind of mix them as if you were shuffling two decks of cards? Or how about adding some extra elements, like tickets, stickit notes, or scrap paper between some of the layers? Talk about easy to personalize!

You can get this script in my stores: Creation Cassel and DigiScrapWarehouse.

cass-StackedUp-samplerAnd for a chance to win this script for free, check out this RAK thread in the DST forum. This week, even non-PSP users will have a chance to win something so even if you do not have access to a Paintshop Pro version, head over there.

And now, i know you were waiting for a free sample. Since this script runs on your own photo, i could not run it the same way, but i created a layered template for you. It includes 11 layers of the polaroid type of frame. It is up to you to insert one photo (or more, if you want). The sampler is in psd format so just about anyone can use it.

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

Will you show me what you can do with these?

New tubes – Old chains

cass-OldChains1

If you like my chain tubes, you might want to look into these. Unlike the previous chains, these are old, rusty, worn. They contrast a fair bit with the shinny gold and silver chains i released before. These would be perfect for vintage kits or layouts, or even if you are into Steampunk style of kits/layout.

The set includes 10 different tubes to create chains in just about any shape you can think. Draw with them freehand, or place them along a path for a more regular appearance.

You can get it in my stores: Creation Cassel and DigiScrapWarehouse (always 25% off until Sunday night).

cass-OldChains-sample

Now, for a close look at these chains, i created a braided chains frame. It is about 2000 pixels wide and is in png format so anyone can use it.

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

And if you want a chance to win the whole set, hop over to the Happy Place at the DST forum and add your name to this thread, telling me what “old chains” reminds you of. I will draw for a winner on Monday night.

New product – Tire Tracks

cass-TireTrackBrushesSet1  cass-TireTrackTubesSet1

Do you own a motorbike? a four-wheeler? a dune buggy? or any other vehicle on wheels? This is a perfect tool to help you add some accents to any layout featuring a vehicle or its owner! It could be about your passing your driver’s licence, your child’s first car (be it a full size or a toy one), or it could also be around your long road trip, your camping vacations, etc. You can use those to create a random background, to circle around some featured photos, create frames, or even a ribbon (why not?).

This week, i released two matching products. Which one to choose is a matter of preference. I would recommend the brush set as it is the most versatile. You can change the color, and even use some texture in your material palette to create that grungy worn look. However, if you use PSP8, the way the program uses the brush does not give a very smooth line if you have some sharper “corners”, so the tubes set will work better in those cases. However, if you are not using any such sharp angles, the brush works fine.

You can find both products in my stores: Creation Cassel and DigiScrapWarehouse.

As usual, i have a little draw for you at the DST forum, so if you want a chance to win one of these, just add your name to this thread.

cass-TireTracks-Frame-Sampler

I know, you are waiting to see things upclose aren’t you? Well, this week, i created a wooden frame with tire tracks on it. Pretty simple and i think it looks like a fun frame to use but it is yours to download for free.

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

I would love to see how you would use this frame so if you create a layout, how about showing it to me?
