New script – Knot #16

Double knots are hard to find because unless they are part of a kit, the colors and patterns are not likely to match the supplies you are using or the project you are making. However, with this script, you can use any ribbon you want so you can use the straight ribbons from the same kit. In addition, you can tweak and colorize the separate ribbons and the script will combine them, creating a unique knot.

Each run of the script will yield a slightly different result since the ends will be cut randomly.

For a sampler, I created four knots in pastel colors for you. They are all in png format (not layered) so they can be used in various programs.

New script – Knot #15

Double knot script for PaintShop ProIn order to get a perfectly matching knot, you would need to use your own ribbon. It might not be so hard as you can colorize one already made, but in order to get a double knot, that will become much more difficult.

This script will use any straight ribbon of your choice to create this double knot. That way, you can match it with other elements created with that straight ribbon, like a frame or even a bow.

Double knots in png formatAs a sampler, I started by editing a star-patterned ribbon with pastel colors, then used a solid colored ribbon and colorized it to match the little stars. The end result is a set of four double knots with pastel colors.

New script – Knot #14

Knot #14 script for PaintShop ProNobody ever has too many ribbons, bows and knots in a toolbox. This script allows you to create a layered knot from any straight ribbon. Whether you have an opaque ribbon or a translucent one, or even a lacy one. Whether your design is simple or even directional, and the script will align the elements correctly. Although you need a ribbon that is 18 times its thickness to get the full effect (with directional design mostly), you can have great alignment of the design.

In the end, the layers are left linked but unmerged so you can insert elements in the loops for a custom effect.

Ribbon loops in layered formatAs a sampler, I am offering you the same knots as in the preview. I edited the files so that the whole knot is one layer and the back loop is on a separate layer. That should allow you to insert something in that loop.

New script – Knot #13

Knot script for Paintshop proEveryone likes ribbons, bows and knots. They can be very versatile, especially if they match. Finding the correct match is not always easy, but with this script, you can use any straight ribbon and get a simple knot to add to your project.

You can pretend to attach that knot to the straight ribbon to tie around a photo, a present, or just as an accent. You can insert something in the center part of the knot, like a ring or a flower stem.

New script – Knot #12

Knot 12 - Paintshop Pro scriptHow you would use knots if you had a traditional ribbon can vary from day to day. You would have options to tie that ribbon in multiple manners, attach different objects, wrap that ribbon around all kinds of things. This is why, in digital scrapbooking, there are so many different knots available.

This script for Paintshop Pro will allow you to "tie" a ribbon into a simple knot, but unlike other scripts where you can only choose the color or pattern and everything looks like it is "flood filled" with that pattern, this script will use your own straight ribbon. This is perfect to have a match if you are using the other ribbon in the project, whether it is left straight, or tied into a different knot or bow created with another script.

Grab this script in the store: Knot #12.

For a chance to win this script, tell me how you would customize a knot for your project otherwise. Do you colorize greyscale ribbons? Do you manually create a knot with your ribbon? Do you use a script that asks you for the color to use? Leave a comment below and i'll announce the winner in the newsletter, next week. Not a subscriber yet? Not a problem. You can register here and it is free (and you only get one email per week).

Knot 12 - free samples in PSD formatThis week, i created three straight ribbons (from greyscale ones) and ran the script to end up with three simple knots. Each one is left in unmerged layers so you can put them around any object or insert something in the middle of the knot.

I had fun with colorizing those ribbons with a gradient instead of a solid color. I think that gives a different kind of look to the knot that makes it more interesting (at least, that is what i think).

I also included the straight ribbons so you can use them with other scripts, or as is on your project to match. Or you can insert the straight ribbon directly in the knot too. Why not?

Remember to show off what you used this knot for. What project did you create using it?

Corel Paintshop Pro Challenge

TextCheck out this week's #CorelChallenge. It is about using text on your project. Well, if you are a scrapbooker, you surely have text on your projects! It could be a fun journaling display, or an unusual title. Or how about a nice Subway art design? We can do so much with Paintshop Pro. Show off what you can do (or just what you have done already).

Post your project on their thread or tag it with #CorelChallenge

Did you see the one i posted on their thread?

Text-in-silhouetteAs part of the Corel Challenge, i created a text inside a silhouette. I thought it was a great way to use the new text wrapping tool from PSP X8.

I also made a short tutorial on how to create this result. Read it HERE.

New script – Knot #11

Knot script for Paintshop ProWe never have too many knots and bows, do we?

This script is all about creating that knot that you can use to tie an element like a ring, a tag, or anything that has a hole on the edge.

Interestingly, unlike other knots (or bows), this script allows you to get the correct shading whether you plan on using the ribbons toward the left, or the right or the top or the bottom. You know that one element with the correct shading should NOT be rotated, flipped or mirrored as that shading will become incoherent with the light source. Well, this is like having 4 scripts in one!

Each layer is left unmerged (so you can tweak them), and furthermore, they are grouped so you can copy the whole set of layers to paste them on your project without having to re-align them one by one.

You can use just about any type of  straight ribbon: opaque, patterned, directional, translucent, lace, etc.

You can grab this script in the store: Knot #11.

For a chance to win this script, tell me how you can think of using this simple knot. Can you think of something even more original than others? Something a little "out of the box"? Share your suggestions in the comments below, and i will pick a winner next week. Not a subscriber yet? Not a problem. You can register here and it is free (and you only get one email per week).

Knot in greyscaleAs a sampler of what this script will generate, i created 4 knots using the same starting ribbon. So you get one for each of the 4 directions.

Each file is in PSD format and the layers are unmerged. If you want to copy the whole thing onto your project and not have to merge the layers first, here is the process (with PSP):

  • highlight the bottom layer
  • right-click and select New Layer Group; click OK to the window that will pop up
  • activate the layer just above the group; drag it into the group, just above the previous layer (which is now in the group)
  • repeat for each layer
  • activate the Group 1 layer (above all the individual layers); copy that one (Ctrl-C) and you can paste as a new layer onto your project (Ctrl-L)

That was easy, wasn't it?

What will you do with those tied ribbons? Remember to show use your end result!

New script – Knot #10

cass-Knot10Yes, another knot! Considering the fact that you probably don't want all your ribbons and bows and knots to always look the same, you need a wide variety of them. That is why I coded this script.

Unlike other knot scripts you can find online, this one uses YOUR ribbons; you do not have to limit yourself to choosing the color or pattern since you can use actual extracted ribbons. This ensures that the knot will match whatever other element you might be using in your project.

This script is also the first one I coded that uses TWO ribbons. You can use any straight ribbons for this, whether they are opaque, or translucent, solid in color or with patterns or even with a directional pattern.

Another little tool for Paintshop Pro users.

Get this script in the store: Knot#10 (and you can check for other knots while you are there too!)

cass-Knot10-greyscale-sampleIf you want a chance to win this script, tell me, in the comments below, what you would attach with a double knot like this. I'll announce the winner in the newsletter next week. Not a subscriber yet? Not a problem. You can register here and it is free (and you only get one email per week).

As a way for you to see, up close, the knot created by this script, i created a layered knot using greyscale ribbons from Melissa Bennett. The end result is a PSD file (so non-PSP users can open it too).

With the layers being left unmerged, you can colorize each ribbon the way you want, and you can also insert an element in the knot itself. What would you insert?

New script – Knot #8

cass-Knot8

Although having a tight knot might be expected, it happens that some times, they are not completed, or maybe you want to attach something that is larger.

This Paintshop Pro script will take any straight ribbon and will tie it loosely. The ribbon needs to be pretty long (at least 3600 pixels for a 150 pixels thickness). Longer is fine, but shorter won’t work.

You can use a solid color ribbon, a directional one, a translucent one or even a lacy one. The script will cut the pieces accurately so that any continuous design (or text) will display correctly.

You can create the ribbons yourself, or use an extracted one. Just make sure it is really straight. If it is at an angle, the script will want it even longer to compensate. Also, if it is at an angle, you might need to tweak the end result manually (but it might be worth it if you are in love with a particular ribbon).

You can get this script in the store: Knot #8.

If you want a chance to win this script, add something in the comments below. Tell me what you would insert in a loose knot like this one, as opposed to a tight one like the Knot #7. I’ll announce the winner in the newsletter, next week.
cass-Knot8-HolidayAs a sample of what you can create with this PSP script, i created a ribbon using a greyscale one, added a layer and flood filled with a holiday color gradient. I adjusted the blend mode to Multiply to show the texture through while keeping the rich dark colors of the gradient. After merging the layers, i ran the script. I used the same steps for both ribbons but in one case the angle of the gradient was 0 and for the other it was 90, which gives you the two different ribbons that are perfectly matching in colors.

The ribbons are really long and the knots are in layered format (PSD) for all to use.

New script – Knot #7

cass-Knot7

Can anyone have too many ribbons and knots in their stash? Never! this script, although it is the 7th for knots, will give you still a different result from the other ones. This script lets you choose a ribbon from your current stash and tie it so you can get a perfectly matching knot and ribbon. How cool is that? Use any version of Paintshop Pro, 8 and up, and you can get this fun, simple and versatile knot out of your ribbon. Unlike other scripts, the ribbon is actually cut in sequential pieces so that if you have a gradient, or a directional design, it will really follow. If you have a translucent ribbon, you will actually “see” the whole path of the ribbon, even the part that goes behind the knot and is otherwise hidden. Even the fold of the pieces will be perfectly matching.

Also, the shading will give that realistic look to the ribbon. In the end, you will get separate pieces that are linked together. Use this feature to insert anything inside the knot. You can tie anything with them. And if you do not have a ribbon to use, the script can create one for you and you will have not only a knot but also a matching flat ribbon that you can use as is, or with another script. This is so neat!

You can get this really fun knot script in my stores: Creation Cassel and DigiScrapWarehouse.

As usual, i have a random draw for you to participate. Check out this thread and add your name while telling me what is the FIRST thing you could think of tying, in a scrapbook layout. I will be back on Monday to announce a winner (Mr Random will do the pick, as usual).

I want you to have a good close look at the knot that this script can produce. I created a basic ribbon, and ran the script on it. You get the flat ribbon AND the layered knot. I reduced it to only 2 layers instead of the usual 8 layers that the script will produce, but you can still insert a ring, a stick, or anything inside that knot. You can get this freebie and use it on your layouts.

See you around in the Campus

New script – Knot #6

cass-Knot6

This week, you can get another knot script. Why another knot? Why not? You always have straight ribbons and would love to tie it to a tag, a frame or other decorative element. Now, if you have Paintshop Pro, and a straight ribbon, you might just be able to tie it into a realistic knot with shading. If you don’t have a ribbon to use, the script will create one for you. Unlike other knot/ribbon script, this one will actually have and accurate use of the length of the ribbon, so you can use a directional design, text, or gradient and have the knot look right. You can use opaque or translucent ribbon because the way the pieces are cut and shaped, they follow the actual path of a “normal” ribbon.

Not only you get a fun knot, but all the layers are left unmerged so you can insert elements between the layers or even inside the knot.

If you want the script to create the ribbon for you, you will end up with a 4200 pixels ribbon that you can use separately or to run another script on. For an interesting effect, choose a gradient or even a solid color with a texture (that will give you kind of a see-through ribbon!).

This script is available in my store: Creation Cassel .

cass-Knot6-sample And how about a chance to “tie the knot” for free? Everyone loves free stuff and i am sure you would love to get this script for free. Then, hop over to the DigishopTalk forum in this Knot script thread and give some ideas on how this script can be used. I will draw for a winner on Monday night. And remember, if you buy this script to take advantage of the sales price, you can still enter and if you win, you simply get a coupon for a future new release!

I am sure you want to see this knot up close so i made these two knots available for you. So in this samplers, i am including two straight ribbons and two knots made with them. The knots are in PSD format with unmerged layers so just about anyone can use them.
