New script – Seamless Pattern Maker

Do you like the idea of creating your own complex seamless pattern? Do you want to make sure elements are not overlapping? Do you want a balanced distribution of the elements? Do you want to avoid too many blue buttons grouped together? It is sometimes hard to get that balance while making sure that the pattern is really seamless and does not show visible gaps.

This script will help you as it will let you tweak the placement of the elements through the process without guesswork.

Holiday seamless pattern As a free sample, I created this seamless "tile" from holiday picture tubes and this script. The tile is 1500x1500 pixels so you can resize it however you want, and you can add your own background color for different results.

New Script – Gradient Stripes

Gradient Stripes script for PaintShop ProThis script will allow you to combine two patterns into one: gradient and stripes.

Everything is done automatically and randomly based on the colors you provide. Each paper will be made of two unmerged layers: one gradient created from those colors you picked, and one striped layer based on a color from the gradient. You can generate up to 10 different papers in one run. Keep the papers you like, and discard the others.

New script – Paper Pattern 1

Paper Pattern 1 script for PaintShop ProIt is always fun to get some random patterns as they are... well... always different from one another. But they are hard to create from templates since they would have the same pattern even if the colors can change.

This script does exactly that. The end result is always going to be different, even with the same starting color, gradient or pattern.

Since Valentine Day is coming up, I thought of making some papers using reds as a starting color. So you have three full-size papers that will be perfect for your Valentine projects (you can also use the darker one for Christmas photos!)

New script – Scales

Sacle design script for PaintShop ProCreating pointy scale patterns, perfectly even is a very tedious task (try it!) but it is a unique design that could make your project stand out.

This script will use between 1 and 6 colors of your choice and create either a seamless tile of repeated colors and pattern or a random arrangement of those colors. In addition, you have the option to create scale patterns based on a colored layer. Furthermore, you can choose to have a contrasting outline (any color you want) or not.

Free scaled patterned papers in jpg formatSince you can use solid colors but also gradients, I had fun using 3 different gradients that I had in my stash to create a "one-color" seamless tile and then filled a full-size paper. I think that the result is stunning, don't you think?

New script – Starburst 2

Starburst pattern maker script for PaintShop Pro

Creating a starburst pattern manually is easy but time-consuming but sometimes, that is what we want: distinct rays instead of the smooth gradient.

This script will turn ANY gradient into a number of distinct rays. You choose the gradient. You choose the number of repeats. You choose the location of the focus point. And you choose how many rays you want to create. Each run will result in a full-size paper of 3600x3600 pixels which you can easily resize as needed.

Starburst pattern papersAs a sampler, I created three full-size papers with some summer-y color gradients. You get three starburst papers and three matching gradients papers.

New script – Bargello

A Bargello pattern is made of multiple strips of fabric, cut into more strips and gradually offset from one another. All that delicate work is tedious when sewing fabric, and definitely as tedious if using a graphics program as it will involve multiple selections, cutting and moving.

With this script, the multiple steps will be automated, making the whole process faster and even more accurate than if you were to do everything manually. Start with a smooth gradient or separate strips of colors or patterns. The script will pick one of nine different patterns, randomly. In the end, you will have a seamless tile that you can use to fill any larger surface. Add a texture if you want.

I created two tiles using individual patterns: one is in the red tones, which you could use for Valentine projects and one with pastel colors for a softer type of project.

Each tile is seamless. If you want a more "accented" pattern, you can resize the tile to become narrower.

New script – Patchwork

Patchwork script for Paintshop ProCreating a patchwork pattern might be fairly easy with selections, one after the other but some designs would be very tedious to create in a seamless pattern especially if it is not a design that fits inside a square or rectangle. However, with the calculations available in a script, you can actually create that seamless pattern from any design.

Each of the 5 designs will end up being seamless and you can then use the tile as a pattern to floodfill a larger image. Change the scale or the angle for interesting and varied effect. You can use wood textures, but also metal, stone, paper, fabric, etc.

Patchwork parquet wood tilesAs a sample, I thought you might like to have some of the tiles used in the preview. They were done using various wood texture images. One tile is 1000x1000 and the other is 1200x1200 pixels. Since they are both seamless, you can use them on a larger image. You can also rotate the pattern at 45 degrees for an interesting effect.

New script – Scallop Pattern 3

Scallop Pattern script for Paintshop ProScallops can be a fun design but other than getting a simple template that is a single color, you are limited in the options available. This script will allow you to create a variety of scallop outline patterns that will be either seamless or a full sheet of the size of your choice. Using that outline, you can add a background of any color, or even using a gradient.

This will give you many additional options to create custom designs for your projects or your kits.

Scallop pattern for HalloweenSince this is October, you might plan either a Halloween party or expect to take some Halloween pictures. This set of two seamless scallop tile will be perfect to create your paper or background. Since they are in .png format, you can add a custom color behind it.

New script – Chevrons 2

Chevrons pattern scriptYou might already be familiar with the script to create neat and regular chevrons, but sometimes, you might want something a little different, a little less regular.

This script is exactly what you need to create your next paper. It will use any color you want from your palette or the image you are working with, and will create up to 25 tiles with different chevrons. EVERY tile will be different because of the random feature integrated. The spacing will be different, the thickness of the lines, the length, and the colors.

Keep the tiles that interest you and discard those you don't like.

Chevrons pattern seamless tilesSince I didn't know what were your favorite colors, I created three tiles with chevron patterns in black, white and grey. They would be quite easy to colorize to your liking and match your current project.

These tiles are seamless so you can turn them into papers or elements of any size. You can rotate them as you wish, although a rotation of 0, 45 or 90 would likely be the best options but you can still play around with other angles.

New script – Honeycombs

Honeycomb pattern script for Paintshop ProHave you ever tried to make a seamless honeycomb pattern? It is a bit challenging because you can't create a square tile that will be seamless. It has to be rectangular, and with the various color combinations, the rectangle can't always be the same size. That is a headache, and that is probably many people wanting a honeycomb pattern had to rely on pre-made templates. But that is still limiting, don't you think?

That is why I created this script. In fact, it was a real challenge in itself to code the script since everything we "think" and "see", has to be coded in mathematical formula. And the math is quite different from what is involved in a triangle or a square! In any case, i had to ask my son to help me with that math AND we had to use Google to confirm it. However, PSP had some little quirks that prevented me from using the straightforward calculations. Go figure!

But in the end, you get a script that will create a full page of honeycombs in various color patterns. You can have the individual hexagons in alternating colors (by row or by column) or you can have them randomly selected. But there is more : you can have a gradient (of any kind) drawn as a base and the honeycombs would pick the color of each individual location to make some very interesting effects.

Honeycomb hexagon paper pattern As a sample of what this script can do, I started with a palette of 3 spring colors: yellow, pink and purple, and generated four fun patterns for you. They are full size papers so you can cut them out, use them as frames, or just as a background for your next spring theme project.
