New script – Triangles

Triangle pattern making script for Paintshop ProTriangle patterns are basic designs that are timeless. Change the size and the colors, add outlines or not and you can get a wide array of different seamless patterns.

Using those seamless tiles, fill any size paper to create matching background for your various projects.

Pick from up to 6 different colors and generate up to 20 tiles in a single run. You can choose to have square tiles or rectangular ones for yet, a different look. Since the outline of the triangles can be hidden, emphasized, changed color, thickness or even linestyle, the possibilities are endless.

What kind of colors would you like to see in a set of seamless triangle pattern tiles? Tell me in the comments below for a chance to win this script (or a coupon for the same value purchase). A winner will be announced in the newsletter, next week. Not a subscriber yet? Not a problem. You can register here and it is free (and you only get one email per week).

cass-triangles-pumpkinAs a way for you to have fun with the end result of this script, i generated a set of 15 tiles with fall colors from a palette of 5 colors. Use those tiles as is as flood fill pattern, or you can also change the proportion of the tiles to get different types of designs.

Each tile is 600 pixels in size so you have ample opportunity to resize the tiles to your need.

What will you do with those tiles??

New script – Leaf Pattern 1

Leaf Pattern script for Paintshop ProCreating a geometric pattern can be easy if you have only one shape, but it can become tedious if you have multiple similar shapes, using different colors. Until now, you either had to do them by hand, or rely on layered templates, which only offer a limited number of color arrangement.

And now, what if you wanted to use totally random colors throughout the whole paper, with hundreds of those similar shapes. How would you do it?

This is exactly what this script will do. Using your own color palette (from 3 to 6 colors), you can generate simple 4-leaf patterns, or multiple ones, and the script will pick the colors at random while creating up to 20 tiles per run. Keep the ones you like, and discard the others. Each tile will have the shapes but no background so you can customize that last element to match your project.

Get this script: Leaf Pattern 1 (and yes, there are plans for a #2 also!)

Do you want to win this script? In the comments below, tell me how you would call this pattern. I called it a leaf pattern, but i am wondering if there is another name for it. I'll pick a winner next week and announce it in the newsletter. Not a subscriber yet? Not a problem. You can register here and it is free (and you only get one email per week).

Leaf Pattern tiles - Easter colorsAlthough Easter is over for most people, the colors associated with Easter are still very appropriate for spring, so whether you want to showcase your Easter photos, or spring photos, these colors should be quite suitable.

I generated 8 small tiles using a 5 color palette. In the preview, you can see the result when each tile was used to fill a larger page, with a solid background.

Each tile is in png format, so they can be used in most graphic programs.

New script – Pinwheel

Paintshop Pro script to create pinwheel patternCreating designs for seamless tiles is not that hard, but creating many using the same palette without redoing the same one twice is a little be more challenging.

This script is there to help with that.

Starting with your own color palette (up to 8 colors), the script will mix them up and create various combinations for you. Since the pinwheel pattern is a little limited in the number of possible patterns, you might end up with a few repeats but you can just delete them.

You can generate tiles, tagger size papers or full size papers, using the same pattern.

You can also combine two tiles, flip/mirror them, and get a new tile for a different pattern.

A simple, yet versatile pattern.

Get this script in the store: Pinwheel

For a chance to win this script, add a comment below, about the idea of this pattern. I'll pick a winner next week and announce it in the newsletter. Not a subscriber yet? Not a problem. You can register here and it is free (and you only get one email per week).

cass-Pinwheel-greensFor a sample, i created 8 tiles in the green colors (for St-Patrick month). Each tile is 250x250 pixels and can be scaled up or down as a pattern. You can add a rotation. You can combine two tiles. You can duplicate a single tile and flip/mirror it to create a different pattern.

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

New script – Circles Circles

Circles pattern script for Paintshop ProAlthough it is fairly simple to create a pattern of overlapping circles, it can be very tedious to choose all the colors, and hard to be accurate to create really seamless patterns.

That is why I created this script to generate an array of seamless designs with various options: not only you can choose your own color palette but you can choose to have thin, medium or thick outlines. You can choose to have only the outlines using your colors, or also have filled overlaps. You can choose to have a single design, or a larger one with more variety. You can even generate up to 25 tiles in one run of the script. Of course, it is likely that the randomness will create a few identical patterns, but it will only take seconds to have that many to choose from. Save the ones you like, delete the others.

Get this script in the store: Circles Circles.

Do you prefer the outline design or those with filled overlaps? Tell me in the comments below and i'll pick a winner next week, to win this script. The winner will be announced in the newsletter. Seamless Circle patterns for Christmas in png formatBeing in the holiday season, i created a set of 20 seamless tiles with traditional red, green and gold colors. Some tiles have only outlines, and some have filled overlaps. They are all 600 pixels wide, so you can easily size them down for more variety.

Each tile is a png format, and has no background. This allows you to add it to any color background, or even to an existing textured paper. The possibilities are just about endless.

Corel Challenge

Red-Green-White-300This week, the Corel Challenge is about Red, Green and White projects. That would be perfect if you were to use those tiles to create your project or a frame or collage. What do you think? Can you create one and post it on the Corel page HERE?

And why not check the Paintshop Christmas Master Class video (which is free to watch) and create a Ribbon Tree or an ornament with those colors so you can submit it to their Challenge too? Another great way to combine two things together.

New script – Harlequin Pattern

Paintshop Pro script to create Harlequin patternAlthough it might be easy enough to get a greyscale template of a Harlequin pattern, it is still a task if you want the colors to be varied, and matching your chosen palette.

Creating the shapes, manually is very time consuming, but with this script and your Paintshop Pro, you can create those in seconds only.

This tool will allow you to create seamless tiles with specific colors of your own palette, but you can also create a larger pattern based on a gradient or even an image (try a picture of a texture!) for a very unique Harlequin pattern that will match your current project.

You have other options, like the presence or absence of outlines between each diamond. Again, that will yield quite different results for you to use.

Grab this script in the store: Harlequin Pattern script.

Have you ever created (or wanted to create) a Harlequin pattern? How did you do so, or how would you have done so? Tell me in the comments below and you will get a chance to win this script. Not a subscriber yet? Not a problem. You can register here and it is free (and you only get one email per week).

Seamless tile with Harlequin patternAs a sample, I created a set of 4 simple patterns made from simple gradients. Although the script asks for a minimum of 2 colors, I just provided the same gradient twice to create a repeated single pattern. If you want the same colors as your particular palette, you can use the foreground-background gradient, and having picked the colors ahead of time, you will get a fantastic match.

Those tiles are seamless so you can use them to create papers, or elements, and by changing the scale, you can create detailed designs too.

So what would you do with those tiles?

New script – Random Dots

Random dot pattern script for Paintshop ProThere are super simple ways to create regular dots in an even pattern. If you want a speed up tool to create a variety of polkadot tiles, you can use the Dots and Diamonds script. But if you want to create something that has more variety in the dots yet, still be regular, what do you do?

That is why I created this script. It will create a dotted pattern but with a completely different type of result with different options.

You can create a tile that you would use as a seamless pattern, or a full size paper where you will have no repeat at all. In addition, you have various ways to pick the colors. You can have a monochrome pattern with only lightness variations. You can have blended colors between two. You can have specific colors picked from your palette with no blending at all, or you can have totally random colors picked.

The dots can be created on a new image or take an open image and add them on a separate layer.

Use the end result as you wish, adding effects if you want.

Grab this script in the store: Random Dots script.

For a chance to win this script, tell me what you would do with those dots. Would you apply them to something? would you add a particular effect? Tell me in the comments below and i'll pick a winner next week to be announced in our newsletter. Not a subscriber yet? Not a problem. You can register here and it is free (and you only get one email per week).

Random Dot paper designHow about a little sample of that dot making machine? I created 2 patterns for you. One is made of primary colored dots (plus black an white) in a very regular pattern, where nothing touches the next dot. And one other in primary colors only where the dots are smaller and somewhat overlap.

Each pattern is 1000x1000 pixels (beware that one of them is not seamless ass some dots are over the edge of the image).

They are both png files so you can use them in most graphic programs. Add a background, apply an effect, use them as tiles, etc.

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

New in PSPX8

What is new in PSPX8This week, Corel released the latest version of Paintshop Pro, which is version X8.

It has some great new features and those will be particularly welcomed by scrapbookers, card-makers and other graphic artists using PSP for other than photo retouching.

Do you want to read more about those new features? Check out this blog post in the Campus.

New script – Chevron

Chevron pattern script to create seamless tilesIt might be fairly easy to create chevron pattern manually, but it still takes time, and in order to get something that is different each time can be a challenge.

This script will take care of that challenge by randomly picking the colors from your palette, and randomize also the thickness and the order of the lines, and also randomize the angle. In the end, you get a variety of seamless tiles you can pick from.

You can generate up to 25 different tiles in one run. And it will take just a few seconds too! Keep the tiles you like, and discard the others (nobody will know).

This is perfect to create background paper or accent elements like ribbons, borders, tags, etc.

Grab this time saving script in the store: Chevron script.

Do you want a chance to win this script? Tell me, in the comments below, how you have used chevron patterns in the past (you can link to a layout if you have one too!). I'll announce a winner in the newsletter, next week. Not a subscriber yet? Not a problem. You can register here and it is free (and you only get one email per week).

Chevron tiles in greyscale for freeAs a sampler, this week, i thought of creating a series of tiles from a single color palette, however, I have no idea what colors you would need. So i chose to run the script using black and white and 4 other shades of grey.

The resulting tiles are obviously all greyscale and you can colorize them as you wish.

You can use those tiles as a flood fill pattern to create edges, background papers and more.

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

New script – Scallop Pattern 1

cass-ScallopPattern1You can probably create scallop patterns the loooooooong way and add individual circles, one by one, using a guide to align them perfectly, but that is so tedious.

This Paintshop Pro script will do all the calculations needed to align all the circles and create a seamless tile.

You can choose a solid color with an outline (obviously, without an outline, a solid color scallop won't show much!), or use a gradient. And furthermore, you can use linear, radial or sunburst gradients for very unique effects.

You can get this time saving script in the store: Scallop Pattern 1 script.

Do you want a chance to win this script? Tell me, in the comments below, how you would have made a scallop pattern before using this script (template? manually? other?) I'll pick a winner next week and it will be announced in the newsletter. Not a subscriber yet? Not a problem. You can register here and it is free (and you only get one email per week).

cass-ScallopPattern1-TilesFor a sample, this week, i made 3 different tiles using the script.

For the first tile, i simply used a solid white and a black outline. The script did the rest.

For the second tile, i just used a linear gradient, going from black to white and no outline.

For the third tile, i used the exact same gradient as for the second tile, but i inverted the colors (so it went from black to white instead of white to black)

Isn't that simple?

New Script – Camo pattern

cass-CamoPattern

Camouflage patterns are not only used for… camouflage anymore.  I remember having a nice pink pair of jeans in a camo pattern years ago. Now, you can find those in any color, but what if you want to use or create something with a very specific color palette?

You can surely find templates to add the colors you want, however, those patterns are always going to be the same one you will use. How about getting something totally new and unique?

This script will create a camo pattern based on ANY size image. You can create a small tile, like 200x200 if you want, or work on a full size 3600x3600 paper. Every run of the script will give a different pattern due to the random feature integrated in the code.

Once the basic pattern is created, you get prompted to choose the colors. In all, depending on the random pattern created, you might need to provide between 4 and 9 colors. Traditionally, you should provide colors starting with the darkest one and gradually move toward lighter ones.

You can also choose 2 colors to be use alternatively (like blue and pink and blue and pink). You can choose 2 colors, alternatively, and also change the brightness every time. Or you can go really crazy and use several different colors. Be warned that this will make your head spin, but if that is the look you want, go for it.

Each paper or tile will be KIND OF seamless. This means that it will not be 100% seamless, and if you look closely, you will see some seams, but because of the nature of the random pattern, that seam might not be obvious from a distance in a busy paper. However, it is recommended that you create the pattern on the larger image size, instead of using a repeated pattern.

You can grab this script in the store now: Camo Pattern.

How about a chance to win this script for free? Check out this thread in the DST forum and tell me what color (or colors) you would love to have a camo pattern done in, but cannot find it. I’ll be back next week with the name of a winner.

cass-CamoPattern-Paper-beigeFor this week’s sample, i created a full size 3600x3600 paper in beige tones. I applied a Denim texture to one copy and a Corduroy texture to the other, so you get, in fact, 3 full size papers with the same beige pattern, but different textures.

You can use those as a background paper, or you can cut up sections to use as a frame, a ribbon, an alpha, etc.

What will you do with that?

To get this set of papers, simply click HERE.

New script – Plaid 2

cass-Plaid2

No more wasting time picking colors, drawing lines, and repeating the process to only get a single plaid pattern.

This script will turn your Paintshop Pro into a plaid pattern generator (and a time saver at the same time). Start with the color palette you want to use, run the script, pick the colors, pick some options like the size of the pattern and the texture, and let the script do the work.

You can see the script randomly picking the colors (it is fun to watch), and then turning all those dots into a fun and unique plaid. With the randomness coded in the script, you will NEVER get the same pattern twice.

You can generate any number of patterns. Keep asking for more as long as you want. Keep the ones you like, discard the others. Since all the tiles would use the same basic color palette, you are sure they will all match together, and with other elements and papers from your kit, or your page.

Grab this time saving script in my store under the name of Plaid 2.

Of you prefer to create a plaid based on an actual picture, so you can match those colors, you can always use the Plaid 1 script.

Do you want this script for free? Head over to the Happy Place, in this thread and add your name to it. How long do you think it would take you to create 10 different plaid patterns using the same color palette?

cass-Plaid2-sample-SweetFebThis week, as a sampler of what can be done with this script, i decided to give you a little teaser too. The February 2014 DST Blog Train will use a palette that includes red, brown, beige and blue. Although i am not participating in the Blog Train, i decided to create 10 tiles that are based on the color palette. Once you get all the pieces from the blog train, you can combine them with these tiles and create something even more fun.

Each tile is 250 x 250 pixels and they are obviously seamless. Use them straight or at a 45 degree angle for even more fun effects.

Some are darker, some are lighter, so have more red, some have less. But you cannot deny that they all match together so imagine how they will look with the papers and elements from the blog train!

You need to be logged in to download this sample. You can either login, or register on the top of this page.

What do you want in 2014?

The script created this week was suggested by Carolyn who liked the original plaid script but wanted to use her own colors, and more colors than the Stripes 2 would also allow. She suggested this script in the January contest.

What is YOUR suggestion?

You only have a few days left to add your suggestions of scripts, fonts, or tubes for me to create and put in the store. Remember that if you suggest something, and i end up working on it, not only you get to test it, give your input, and ask for various options to be integrated, but you also get it FREE, and before everyone else too!

ADD your suggestion TODAY

It could be an action you saw for Photoshop and you would like the same thing in PSP

It could be an existing script that you would like to have more options, or different effets.

It could be a photo effect you saw in a layout in a gallery and would like to replicate it.

It could be a way to apply some designs to certain surface.

It could be a way to create objects but with your own settings and colors.

It could be a script to create objects but with some randomness to them.

It could be a font that you only dreamed of and does not exist yet.

It could be a tube to draw various types of elements that are nearly impossible by hand.

Com’on, what do you want to see in the store, in 2014?
