8th June 2013
Whether you have purchased the Card & Envelope script, or not, you can enter this contest. You just have to create a fun Father’s Day card with matching envelope. It’s that easy.
If you have the script on hand, you can obviously create a card with a different size or shape. If not, use the template HERE. It is available for free and is layered so you can use it even if you are using PS or PSE.
Each PERSON entering the contest will get a $3 coupon to the store. You can enter as many times as you want (but you still get only one coupon).
Enter by emailing me a preview of the card and envelope at cassel AT creationcassel DOT com.
NEW DEADLINE and NEW PRIZE
There will be another prize added to this promotion. I got a copy of Paintshop Pro X5 to be drawn among all the participants to this promotion, so to give more people a chance for this, the entries will be accepted until Sunday June 16th. The voting with then take place over the following week.
Share this with everyone you can!

This week, i decided to offer something for our hybrid crafters friends. A while ago, i coded a script that would allow the user to create a custom size/shape gift card box and it was very popular for the holiday season when people often give away gift cards. That is when some users asked me to create other scripts to make hybrid projects. So here is one for you.
This script will NOT create the cards but will create the template for a card AND an envelope that you can then personalize. You choose the size and the flap design and the script will create what you need. Everything is left in separate layers so you can colorize or customize each section separately if you want, whether it is the flap for the envelope, or the front of the card only.
You can create tiny cards as small as 300 x 300 pixels (perfect for little notes, Advent calendars or other) or regular size ones up to 1800 x 1200 pixels. One neat feature of this script is that the maximum size template can still be printed on a regular home printer: no need for extra wide (and costly) printer or having to go to a print shop for it.
This script allows you to create a perfectly sized envelope if you crafted a custom card with your scrapbooking supplies or other. And of course, you can still add traditional 3d decorations to the printed card! Or you can just create blank templates and use them as base for your traditional card making.
Since this is really a TOOL script, you can use it to create CU products.
You can get this convenient script in my store: Creation Cassel
You can also win this script by adding your name and tell me for which occasion you are most likely to use this script in this thread in the DST forum. I will be back on Monday with the name of a winner.
It has one folding card and a matching envelope that are 1200 x 900 pixels. Not a big card, but just something you can give a friend, your mom, your colleague, etc.
I used a FREE kit called “Doux Bruisssements”. This is only one of a series of free kits that are offered on that blog. They have one every month. It is definitely worth checking out that French site!
Once you download the files, you can just add something on top of the card and print both the card and the envelope, cut them, fold them and add something inside the card for whoever you want to give the card to.
And voilà, you have a perfectly matching card and envelope.
To start the download, just click on the preview itself. No waiting. No registration.
April Birthday Promo
Did you remember to shop this month? Did you accumulate enough purchase to give you a nice coupon for May? You still have just a few days to reach whatever goal you set for yourself. This weekend, i should be sending you a note with how much you have accumulated so far for your May coupon so you might want to start another wishlist to use it!
News from the Campus
The BIG Show Off is also coming down to the last few days. Did you see all the projects members are showing off? Did you leave some comments for them? See what Nadine posted:
Isn’t that lovely?
The Extraction Master Classes bundle is still available for a few days, so you better hurry before it is removed. If you use the code EXTRACT5, you get an extra $5 off the already reduced price for the two classes.
(remember that any purchase in the Campus will also be added to what you might have spent in the store to increase your May coupon!)
If the Extraction Master Classes bundle offer expires on Monday, another deal will be offered but since the month of April is only a few days away, that deal will ONLY last for Monday and Tuesday. You don’t want to miss it so keep a very close eye on the Campus or even better, register in the Campus so you can get an email notification for it.
WARNING: it will ONLY BE FOR 48 HOURS!
12th April 2013
More and more designers like to incorporate matching tags, or cards or other elements into their kit. More and more scrappers like to have something matching the kit they purchased or the layout they are making but might be missing those elements. To do them by hand is ok if you only have a couple to do, but what if you need a whole set? That can quickly become a long task.
With this script, you can start with any simple template (simple works best), choose any number of papers to pick from, select colors from your color palette and let it do its magic. You can generate up to 10 copies of the basic template, using a randomly picked paper and randomly picked color.
And all that can take you less than one minute to accomplish. Of course, the script does not have a good eye for color combinations so you might very well end up with ugly matches, but it is not a big deal: just delete those and keep the ones that ended up as great combos.
You will determine which layers will be replaced by papers, which ones will be replaced by a color and the script will leave all the other layers untouched. Since all the resulting elements will be left in layers just like the starting template, you can still tweak any one of them as you want.
You can grab this time saving script in my store: Creation Cassel
Do you want a chance to win this script? You can do so by adding your name to this thread in the DST forum and give me more ideas on how you could use such a script. I will come back on Monday night with the name of a winner. Remember that even if you purchase the script, you can still enter the draw and if your name comes up, you will be able to get a coupon for a future new release.
For a free sample, i prepared a set of 9 tags (900×600) all made using the same kit from Karenheckyeah called “A summer Place”. You can use those tags for a “Project Life” type of layout since it makes those tags 3×2 inches, or you can use them in other traditional types of layout. It is really up to you.
Simply click on the preview to start the direct download.
It is still April!

5th April 2013
If you want to create a long border with a specific design, how do you achieve that? Probably with a lot of copy and paste and move, and copy again, paste again and move again. This can be pretty tedious if you want to create a long strip of repeated pattern. And how do you make sure the spacing is perfectly even? That is another challenge.
This script does all the hard work for you and will take just a few seconds. In addition, you get many options in the type of repeats you can get AND you are the one deciding how the spacing should be.
You can have a simple straightforward repeat, but you can also have the design alternating up and down, or have it mirrored, or flipped, or both. You can even have the design overlap if you prefer.
You can use just about anything you want to repeat, whether it is a vector shape, a dingbat, a hand drawn design, an element, even an extracted element from your stash (just beware of any shadowing though).
You can get this very versatile script in my store: Creation Cassel
What could you do with this script? Give us some ideas in this thread in the forum, for a chance to win it.
For this week’s free sample, I made this simple frame out of a dingbat that i colored. I used the mirrored repeat and slightly overlapped the first repeat with the original design, then, as the script offered me to merge the first two, i chose a different spacing for the following repeats.
Once a long strip of repeats was done, i selected a smaller portion of the strip to create the sides, and just with duplicates, and mirror and flip, i adjusted each side to create a frame. Very simple to do once you have the basic strip!
To download this frame, simply click on the preview. No wait.
And remember to show us what you do with it!
Yes, it is here now. The BIG April Promo is in full swing and you can participate in several different ways.

And there are more.
Bundle of the week
Until Monday, you can also grab a great deal in the Campus: the Photo-Graphics with PSP bundle is available for $24.99 (instead of $39.99 if you bought them separately).
Even better, if you are using the coupon code: PHOTOGR5 you get an additional $5 off meaning that you end up with TWO Master Classes for $19.99, which is, in fact, the price of one!

28th March 2013
Do you sometimes have various elements, like flowers, beads, or even frames that you would like to have evenly distributed? In PSPX4 and X5, there is a function like that but if you are using an older version, the only way you can do it is using the guidelines and measuring the spacing yourself and then finding the center of each object to move them accurately.
That is a bit of work that you can avoid with this script. In fact it will take it just a few seconds to accomplish what might take you a few minutes.
In addition, this script can also distribute elements evenly on a diagonal line, based on the width and the height of the image. Even PSPX4 and X5 don’t do that!
If your elements are the same size, the spacing will probably be pretty even, but if the elements are of different size, don’t count on the spacing as the script measures by the center of each element.
Unfortunately, it is only compatible with PSP9 and up (sorry for the PSP8 users out there).
You can get this script in my store: Creation Cassel.
I also have a giveaway in the DST forum. Simply tell me, in this thread, what PSP version you are using and your name will be entered in the random draw for Monday night.
Just like last week, it is kind of hard to give you a sample of a tool script, so i opted for giving you a spring element (or Easter theme, if you prefer). I made this bunny out of the pipe cleaner picture tubes from the store. This is a PNG format element about 1500 pixels high. I added some fun shadows to give it some volume and the shadows are part of the element.
Those pipe cleaners are so much fun to play with. Just like the real 3D ones you can bend and twist, you can do just the same thing with your mouse. You even have the advantage of being able to make them much longer than the real ones!
They were Mendy’s idea and here is what she said about them:
“This one [product] is so much fun. Makes you feel like you are a kid again. They are so real looking that you just want to reach out and touch them. Love it!”
You can get those pipe cleaners in the store here.
But obviously, you want the freebie, right? Just click on the preview to start the direct download.
April is near
Yes, yes, i told you that last week, didn’t i? And i am sure you know it is only a couple of days away. But did you figure out what it will be about? Did you guess from the hints? Let’s add a bit to the list:
Hint #1: get your wishlist ready (i really mean it!)
Hint #2: check the Master Classes in the Campus (watch the video for the free one or any other you might have purchased)
Hint #3: get ready to scrap
Hint #4: FF often stands for Firefox, but for something else too!
Hint #5: something will happen on “school ground” too
See you soon! I think there might be something more in the Newsletter, Sunday morning.
18th January 2013
Do you like polkadot patterns, but want to have something more than the single dot? Here is a script that will give you the option to create layered concentric dots in random colors picked from the palette you chose.
You can create a singe dot pattern (with two colors), or a 2 x 2 design where all four dots are using the same colors, or a 2 x 2 design where all the dots are randomly colored. The end result is obviously seamless so you can use the tiles as a pattern in your Paintshop Pro. Use them straight or at a 45 degree angle for a different look.
Each tile ends up with all the dots on separate unmerged layers, so you can also replace one dot by something else, or add a shadow, or a texture to each layer independently.
Use bold or subtle colors to match your kit or your photo. Add an extra design in the middle of the smaller dots.
You can get this script in my store, at Creation Cassel. It is on sale at 25% off until MONDAY NIGHT (this is in response to those who mentioned that due to the time zones, they tend to miss the sale price when it ended on Sunday night while the newsletter was released on Sunday morning).
As usual, there is also a random draw in the forum where you can win this script. Check out this thread, and just add a comment to the thread (i am not asking much this time). I will be back on Monday night with the name of a winner.
This week, I didn’t create a freebie for you, but someone else did. I asked Bernadette to test run this script and she got inspired in using this script in a totally different way that i expected! She used it to create a paper; that is the typical use for it, but she also used the dots separately and made a wordart, and some elements too. You can download her freebie mini-kit by clicking on the preview.
If you want to look at a matching kit, she has it in her store here.

Are you familiar with LOAD (Layout A Day)? If you ever participated in the past, you will want to register again, right? If you never participated, it is a great time to start.
The the inspiration and nudge to complete one layout a day for the whole month of February (it only has 28 days!). Whether you are a traditional paper scrapper, or a digital scrapper, you can join in the fun and with the title of SCRAPHAPPIER, what else than fun can you expect?
There is a little contest on the Campus where you can WIN your registration: either you win a registration or you win a refund of your registration if you already paid for it. Since the places are limited and the number of seats is quickly dwindling, you might want to secure yours now.
If you want to register now, go for it: REGISTER NOW.
Then, head over to the Campus and add a comment to the LOAD post. If you participated in previous LOAD events, tell us what you liked about it. If you never participated, tell us why you would like to join. I will draw for a winner on January 27th, 2013. Tell your friends too!
25th October 2012
I have seen someone use little pieces of paper, side by side, all the same height, but different width depending on the letter. I thought it was a cool idea, and wondered how to replicate that fun effect without the tedious task of measuring all the characters. I guess scripts are handy with that as they work much faster than my brain could in doing those maths!
This script allows you to create words on a single image with each piece being on a separate layer.
You choose the text, the font, the colors, and you can also ask the script to create the individual pieces with some extra space on top or on the bottom or both. This gives you even more options as you can now add holes, fasteners, insert the pieces under other elements, etc.
Since the pieces are left on individual layers, you can still apply various effects to them, add textures, edges, grunge them, or run other scripts on them.
You can get this very versatile script in my store: Creation Cassel.
There is also a draw that will take place in the DST forum, where you can enter by telling me what you can use this script for? What could you do with those words, or individual tiles? Add your suggestions HERE, and i’ll be back on Monday night with the name of a winner.
This week, i ran the script to create all the pieces for a Happy Birthday banner or streamer. I used the Rope tube and the Vector Tube script to create that smooth looking string. I also ran the Twister script to give that random rotation to the individual pieces.
The banner is 2300 pixels long and offered in two different formats: one is a PNG format and has the darkened edges, the lifted shadows and the weaving string, while the other one has all the pieces in individual layers and offered in PSD format. You can apply the effects you want, move the letters around, use the string or not. You can just fasten the pieces with buttons, or staples, or many other types of fasteners. You can even recolor them if you want!
Simply click on the image to download the freebie.
If you have any problem with the download, let me know!
You know that DSD (Digital Scrapbook Day) is coming our way, right? This will be on Nov 3rd. Something will happen in the store that does not happen often. A SALE. Yes. I am not telling you what kind of sale, but you surely will want to update your wishlist. Remember that if you log into your account, you have access to your own wishlist so whenever a big event happens (like DSD), you will be able to get to what you really want, faster, so you can play with your goodies, sooner!
You have one week to get ready!
31st August 2012
Did you ever play with those little plastic beads with letters, making bracelets with your name or your friend’s name?
Now, you can create your own set of beads, in any color, using any font, and adding any character, digit, symbol, etc. And not only you can create individual beads, but you can get a whole word, phrase, or even the alphabet. This is a script that Paintshop Pro users will love; it is so versatile and easy to use.
With this script, you can always have the perfectly matched beads: use the colors from your photo, your kit, or your palette. If you want to be a little wild, you can choose more than one color for the letters (you can pick them from your palette) and the script will randomly use them. This is cool if you want to write a word or a phrase and want some variety in the colors used: you don’t even need to create 3 alphabets to use 3 colors. You don’t even need to run the script 3 times either! All done in one run.
Another great advantage of this script is that you can use any font, and also any character. If you want math symbols you can create them (honestly, how many alphas include those?), you can add accented characters in your language (providing that the font supports those characters), and you can even create some beads with designs that are not in fonts: just draw them by hand or use a preset shape.
What can you do with those beads? Just about anything you want. Use them for dates, for names, for fun phrases, even for titles. Attach them to a string, a ring, a ribbon, a staple, a pin and more. Place them side by side, or vertically. After all, there is no hole in those so you can pretend they are in any direction.
Now is the time to go grab this superb script and start adding unique alpha elements on your projects. You can get it in my store: Creation Cassel.
This week, not only i will have a random draw for someone to win this script, like i do every week, but you are asked to “place your order” for a complete alpha. Check out this thread, tell me what shape, and colors you would want for a bead alpha and after drawing for one person to win the script, i will draw a second time and this person’s order will be filled AND EVERYONE who posted will get it. This means that you don’t even have to have a copy of PSP: just post and you are sure to get a free alpha, and if you are lucky, it will be made from YOUR specifications.
Do you want to play with some of the beads created with this script? Here. I made a set of digits with various symbols so you can create dates in various format. Attach them any way you want, vertically, horizontally, on a string, a pin, or maybe just “glued” on something. Simply click on the preview to start the direct download.
If you use these beads in a layout, i would love to see it. With your permission, i can even post it in here or in the newsletter. Show us your creativity! Don’t be shy!
The rest of the alpha will be made available in the newsletter, this Sunday. If you are not yet subscribed, just fill out your name and email address on the left of this page.
News in the Campus
Our next workshop will be held this coming Sunday, and we will look at the basic, most common tools and techniques to do extraction. Someone asked me what an “extraction” is. Extraction is removing a particular element from its background using different methods. Once the element is “extracted”, it can be used on a different background, or used in totally different ways.
We will look at the basic techniques this time. Another workshop will address more advanced techniques, later on.
There is still time to register. If you are new to those online workshops, you will not just hear me, but you will see me work directly on my Paintshop Pro at the same time. If i make a mistake (and it does happen), you will see it live (and you can laugh).
Today, August 31st is the last day to get the most popular Master Class of the Campus, “Realistic Shadows in Scrapbooking with Paintshop Pro”. You can get it for $8 instead of $19.99.
You need to use this code:
Our new special offer will go live tomorrow (September 1st) in the Campus.
Yes. TOTALLY FREE. EVERYTHING is included (except the graphic program and your photos!). Supplies are included. Video instructions are included. Written handouts are included. Even a discount coupon to get it printed. And here is what Teejay has to say about this class:
I put 2 hours aside to view and play with this class… Now it is 4 hours later… lol. Your videos are really really good, easy to follow, even the hard stuff like separating the dates was made VERY easy to understand… the selection and cutting was made easy too. I think its because you ‘speak ‘ what you are doing when you do it, and you have given lots of stuff do make these calendars so special. That’s why it’s taken more hours of playing,… no cooking, cleaning or shopping!
So, check back in the Campus tomorrow (or later today, depending on your part of the world).
3rd August 2012
A while ago, i released a script that made an inside frame, with text. It was a delicate result, using the Word Frame script. However, at times, one might want something a bit more obvious or something that can be turned into a wordart. This script will do just that.
You can start with a photo from your P365 stash, and add a border OUTSIDE the photo. You can add the word WEEK in plain view and add the number in a contrasting color and font. Depending on whether your photo format is portrait or landscape, you can choose to have the word on top or on the bottom, or on one side.
You can choose any word you want. However, be careful as longer words will be made to fit in the space so if you are trying to write BEAUTIFULLY in a small space, the text will be kind of squished!
The font will be whatever you choose and unlike many other scripts, you will NOT have to type the name and risk a typo; the script will stop and let you choose the font from the text tool toolbar so you will have no problem with typing.
Once the word and the font are chosen, you will get four options to display that word: colored, outlined, cutout, or translucent. Except for the cutout (obviously), the word is on a separate layer so you can still apply your own personal touch.
What can you do with this script? Whatever you want. With all the options available, you are sure to get a frame that will be perfectly matching your layout or your kit.
You can find this script in my store: Creation Cassel.
And as usual, i am giving you the chance to win this script by posting in this thread. And as usual, if you choose to purchase the script this weekend to take advantage of the new release price, you can still participate: if you win, you will get a coupon for a future new release of your choice! So go for it. What do you have to loose?
This week, i created four frames for you. Two in French and two in English. They would be perfect for a P365, or any “ordinary” photo (is any photo really ordinary?). You can add a date or a number in another font. Each frame is in greyscale so you can colorize them to match your project. Two frames are in PNG format, as they have only one layer, but two are in PSD format so you can actually move the words if you want, add a shadow, some brushwork, and also colorize them too.
Just click on the image to start the direct download.
News from the Campus
Our July Anniversary Celebration ended, well… on July 31st! But although the big noisy promotions are over, some quiet ones will still take place. For example, you can still get some of our monograms, if you are receiving our newsletter. You are not getting it? No problem, it is free to join, and as a member, you can get some goodies, once in a while and this week, another part of the monogram alphabet will be given.
And this Sunday, August 5th, we will have our monthly workshop, this time, on Masks. Are you registered yet? That is free too! You still have time to join. And don’t hesitate to post on your FB or tweet about it. Any PSP user can find some use in masks, whether they are scrapbookers, card makers or even photographers! How many people can you bring?
Finally, whether you are a member of the Campus or not, i posted a little survey about scrapbooking (and it is not specific to PSP). Can you go an have a peak at it? It only has 5 questions so it will only take you one minute or so. Click HERE to go.
19th July 2012
A while ago, i saw some of those old fashioned curtains made of glass beads. I thought i could make a script to create those but i ran into various problems with it and decided to put it on the back burner for a while. Last week, Connie posted on our Facebook page the suggestion to create this exact same element, so i brought it back to the front burner and kept working at it. It must have worked because i figured out how to get all i wanted into it.
This is how this Bead curtain script for Paintshop Pro was born. This script will allow you to use ANY picture tube and make vertical lines of it. Obviously, the most comment tubes you will be using are going to be beads, right? Well, probably, but you can also use chains, drops, flowers, gems, and more. For a fun Halloween curtain, you can even use strings of bugs! I am sure it would make a fantastic background for some Halloween theme layouts!
The script offers many options. The length of the strings and the width of the “curtain” will be determined by the size of your image, so you can work directly onto your current project, or make a smaller one on the side. You can have all the strings of the same length, or in random length, or even in a triangular pattern (check the sampler, below). You determine how many strings you want, how spaced the elements will be, and you can also have individual elements all of the same size or randomly sized. You can use directional tubes (like chains and ropes), but also tubes that need to be used in sequence (like always 5 small ones and 1 big one), or totally randomly.
You can grab this script in my store at Creation Cassel.
You can also add your name to this thread for a chance to win it, as usual. So what are you waiting for?
I am sure you will LOVE this free sample i made for you. I used one of my bead tubes and ran it on a 600×2000 pixels image asking for a triangular shape bottom. Then, i used that tile to flood fill a 3600×2000 image to get that chevron effect at the bottom. Isn’t that lovely? You can use it as a background for something fancy, or formal, or maybe a wedding page, or Christmas layout. What will you use it for? This is a png format, so anyone can use it.
The beads are slightly uneven to give it more depth and life.

As you know, i specialize in Paintshop Pro scripts. However, i regularly get requests from Adobe users asking if i could convert my scripts so they could use them in Photoshop or Photoshop Element. Well, i decided to take the plunge and get a few chosen scripts to be made into actions (or scripts) so that more people could enjoy creating custom elements for their kits, layouts or other projects.
Today, i am making this action available to you. It is a first. I do not have a set schedule of how often Adobe-compatible products will be released in the store. When it happens, i will tell you in here, and in my newsletter.
This action will let you create a custom license plate that you can match to any kit, layout, theme that you want. Aren’t the samples in the preview lovely? Thanks to Michelle and Jenn for those! If you want to get this action, simply head over to my store HERE to buy it. Just like my regular PSP products, it is on sale for 25% off over the weekend, so hurry!
News from the Campus
This weekend, we will also have a fun brand new activity. I am all excited about it and the more people join, the more fun it will be, and the more everyone will bring home afterward.
Because of the annoying “time zones issues”, there are 2 meetings planned, so it is more than likely that one of them will be accessible for you, in YOUR time zone.
Those meetings are called VIDEO SPEED SCRAP. It is probably not the best name for it, and it is surely going to change, but i didn’t find anything better for now. It will be a VIDEO meeting. Nothing to do with a webcam, so don’t worry about your hairdo or makeup. You can come in your pyjama if you want, nobody will see. The VIDEO part is about sharing your screen. As we meet and work (yes, YOU will work too), we will share screen of what everyone is doing. Sharing screen is NOT mandatory, if you prefer not to, but it will be available to all.
The VIDEO SPEED SCRAPS will take place on Sunday, July 22nd. (and they are NOT software specific so everyone can join in)
- The first one is on ALPHA. We will be making MONOGRAMS based on one single kit that you will get to download just before the meeting. Everyone will work on different monograms, but using the same palette, the same theme and maybe the same base material, but i can promise you that everyone will be doing something VERY different! The meeting for the ALPHA will be at 10 am Eastern time zone. Register here.
- The second one will be on TEMPLATES. We will all create a different template based on some identical elements, and some specific instructions. At the end, everyone will be able to get a set of templates from what each participant created. As you see, the more people who join, the more templates we’ll get. It is a bit like a template exchange, but with a twist. And again, we will allow everyone to share their screen during the meeting. This meeting will be held at 9 pm Eastern time zone. Register here.
Finally, as the month of July nears the end, our Anniversary celebration also will be closing soon. As a last offer to you, both the Basic Scrap course and the Element Creation tutorials course are currently on sale. This is a great offer, and it will last until July 31st. Check them out.
See you in the Campus!Newer Posts »
